Hal sired 2 clutches at Igen, one off gold Star, another off green Trace. And Jenna had no idea until about a sevenday before they hatched. Many, many thanks go to Terri's player. She was excellent! I actually got to help out puppeting and everything. Much fun! Or, skip to the end and see who impressed.

You trek the half mile to the northeastern end of the bowl.
Fort Weyr Bowl, northeastern area
The Bowl of Fort Weyr, a large, featureless plain surrounded by steep mountain
cliffs, stretches out before you. It is vaguely oval in shape, long from southwest
to northeast; you're standing near the wall at its northern end.
Off to the northwest is the long path leading up to the Junior Queens' Weyrs,
while steps to the north lead to the Weyrleader Complex. From here you can see
in to the Hatching Grounds to the east, and the steps leading up to the gallery
stands in the Grounds to the southeast. Stretching off to the southwest is the
center of the bowl, where the Lower Caverns, Weyrling Barracks, lake and Feeding
Grounds can be seen.

Jenna waves up to Norse, "Hey, you! I need a ride." She grins, "Are you and Orenth busy, or can I steal you for just a bit?"
From atop Orenth, N'sales waves to Jenna, "You ready to go?"
Jenna laughs. "Read my mind, bronzerider - that's a scary habit."
From atop Orenth, N'sales chuckles and grins. "Why else would you come running up to me on my dragon." his voice is light hearted. "Igen you say? What's at Igen?"
Jenna grins. "Hal is. Those eggs the weyrsecond's gold has had him tending should be close to hatching. I swear I'm going to bodily drag him home if not."
Orenth bends down and offers his leg for Jenna to mount.
Halcyon> Star stretches and hops down to inspect her eggs, tilting her head this way and that and crooning to herself.
Orenth
Orenth's supple bronze hide rests below you with his large, pronounced neck
ridges helping to keep you in place.
Jenna is seated behind N'sales. Seated between Orenth's first two neckridges, N'sales sits comfortably.
You are currently at Fort Weyr Bowl, northeastern area.
Around Orenth you see nobody walking in the area, and Aisheth nearby.

N'sales
You carefully climb up Orenth's offered leg with the help of N'sales and seat
yourself in between one of the neckridges behind N'sales.
Halcyon> Halcyon was half dozing and jolts alert as Star moves. He was just
resting his eyes. Really.
Halcyon> Aisha grins, "Well I have it looks almost ready to hatch."
N'sales nods, "Oh yes, thats right." He helps Jenna up, then checks her straps. "Anyone else need a ride?"
Jenna shrugs, "Not sure." She gives the neckridge an affectionate pat, "Hey, Orenth. Thank you for the ride, boy."
From off Orenth, Orenth rumbles to Jenna.
N'sales chuckles, "He says anytime. Well they can find another ride. You ready?"
Jenna nods. "Go for it."
N'sales gives Orenth the command for up as he hangs on to the straps, "Better hang on."
You spring upwards, away from the beginning heat of the sands.

From off Orenth, Orenth emerges from Between with a blast of cold air!
Halcyon> Cerona tilts her head slightly, peering over at the gold, bronze, and their eggs. "Well, should be interesting if they are. But let's keep the door closed," she says, gesturing to the nursery, "Because if any of the littles discover it, we'll have baby firelizards to take care of as well." she smiles and shakes her head, "Not really."
You furl your wings slightly to glide lower into the Bowl.
Midway up in the Igen Weyr Bowl(#779RLaet$)
Halcyon> Star chitters gently, keeping an eye on everyone around as she turns the eggs. She gives them a few more turns and nudges, then settles back and starts to hum.
You carefully wing lower into the Bowl.
You land just below in the center of the Igen Weyr Bowl.
Igen Weyr Center Bowl(#802RJe)
N'sales quickly slides down Orenth's leg and lands along side his life mate.
N'sales has left.
Halcyon> Drellon strides in from the Living Caverns.
Halcyon> Drellon has arrived.
Halcyon> Rue peers slowly from behind the entrance to the Inner Caverns.
Looking relieved, she slips in and puts her back up against a wall sighing with
relief. She then looks around the room and looks like shes seeing it for the
first time. She stands still, rigedly where she is and peers as people pass
through the room.
Halcyon> Cerona raises an eyebrow at the hum with a soft giggle, "Suppose
you were right, Aish," she says, moving toward the door a little as people
start to filter in. Polite nods go their respective ways, of course.
Halcyon> N'sales strides in from the Living Caverns.
Halcyon> N'sales has arrived.
Halcyon> Yelena strides in from the Living Caverns.
Halcyon> Yelena has arrived.
Halcyon> Aisha grins and looks excited, "I can't believe it they are
finally hatching."
Halcyon> N'sales strolls in removing his riding jacket in one quick motion.
He nods to some of the riders and smiles, "Fort duties to Igen and her
Queens."
Halcyon> Kalina smiles eagerly, gazing over at the eggs.
Halcyon> Yakut strides in from the Living Caverns.
Halcyon> Yakut has arrived.
Halcyon> Star eyes all the people suspiciously even as she hums, her little
throat fluttering. She hovers over the pot of eggs, which are beginning to twitch.
Halcyon> Brenton strides in from the Living Caverns.
Halcyon> Brenton has arrived.
Halcyon> Yelena makes her way in, looking mighty odd with her crisply white
gauze tunic now greasy and sagging from the meatrolls she has hoarded. She grins
broadly, whispering, "I heard there was a clutch of hardened eggs in here.
" Looking over at the glowering little queen, she smiles, "Lass? Are
your babies ready?"
Halcyon> Rue leans forward very slowly noticing the center of attention in
the cavern, firelizard eggs. She walks over slowly and quietly as if she is
invisible and looks at them.
Halcyon> Drellon meanders into the caverns with all the lazy grace that an
awkward teenager can muster--that is, not much. But at least he doesn't look
lost; in fact, he looks right at home. "I swear, Jeni, 'm not lying!"
he protests to the rider who comes walking in with him.
Halcyon> Aisha grins and looks nervously at Cerona, "I've never seen
a clutch hatch before."
Halcyon> Yakut enters, of all things - a dead, plucked wherry over her shoulder
one one side, a quiver of arrows on the other. She stays at the edge of the
gathering, peering more out of watchful interest then any desire to rush torward
the clutch. She absently slides her bow across her shoulder. "Bit crowded."
she observes to no one at all.
Halcyon> Skie has arrived.
Halcyon> Brenton makes his way in munching on a meatroll and glances about
his gaze focusing on the eggs. "Well, it seems rumor was right, for once."
He mutters to himself.
Halcyon> N'sales makes his way around the room staying back out of the way
of all those gathered. He quietly takes a seat at a small table, watching the
excitement with a amuzed eye.
Halcyon> Cerona offers cheery hellos as more folks wander in, and smiles
at Aisha, "Oh I've seen bunches. Awkward little things, most times. Pretty
charming, though." she smiles.
Halcyon> Aisha looks very nervous, "I don't doubt they are. Should I
dare to try and impress?"
Halcyon> Baleera strides in from the Living Caverns.
Halcyon> Baleera has arrived.
Halcyon> Rue stares quietly at the eggs, trying to stay out of everyones
way, and accidentally bumps into a part of the plucked wherry that Yakut is
carrying. She jumps to the side with a little shriek, and pants with her hand
over her heart.
You head into the Igen Weyr Living Cavern.
Igen Weyr Living Cavern(#600RJMQ)
Igen's living cavern is an immense hollow in the volcanic caldera, stretching
up two stories, the light of the glows and the hearth reflected in the quartz
which peppers the swirled sandstone unique to this region. One hundred feet
wide and one hundred fifty feet long, the room could, and, as the social center
of the weyr, often does, seat the entire weyr. Tapestries adorn the walls, depicting
scenes from Pern's past. The head table sits upon a raised platform at the far
eastern side of the room, in front of a huge fireplace which is continually
burning.
A wide balcony overlooks the cavern, and large tunnels lead west out to the
bowl, and south to the kitchens. A smaller tunnel leads off to the east, beyond
which lay the inner caverns of the Weyr. A small doorway in the northern wall
opens to the infirmary, and a quiet door to the northeast opens into the Records
Room. In the corner one may +view a plaque.
Tables fill a good portion of the room. One can get '+help places'.

Halcyon> Plush Crushed Blue Egg and the Cracked Pale Egg, leaning against each other in the sand, quiver and stop again, in unison.
L'son chuckles at Baleera's remark as he goes to inspect the barrels quietly, glancing every so often to check on Vykar. As the words of firelizard hatchings drift about the cavern, Vykar is quick to return to L'son and beg that he be allowed to go. "Alright, sport, but don't get in the way of anyone. Just let what happens happens. Besides, Pollard might get jealous hmm?" Winking Lee ruffles Vykar's hair and pats him off. "Terri?" he calls over. "Could you just keep half an eye on Vyk to make sure he doesn't get into any trouble?"
Halcyon> Yelena pops a meatroll into her mouth and chews it slowly.
Sarai arches her eyebrows. "I don't pretend to understand the fascination. All Maurice is good for is guarding sheep and infants."
Halcyon> Aisha watches Skie as he arrives and does a little swooping glide
before spiraling down to the ground.
Halcyon> Star keeps up her crooning, perched on the edge of the pot of eggs.
Her tail swishes impatiently as she looks toward the inner caverns.
Halcyon> "Well, they both look healthy enough. Ma can't be mad if I
/let/ you try for another one," Drellon's rider companion answers with
an indulgent smile. "Here, take this. I have enough to deal with in a dragon."
The older woman hands over a neat package, which when unwrapped reveals itself
to consist of several strips of herdbeast.
Jenna comes in, offering, "Fort's duties to Igen and her queens - hey, Terri!" She grins at the weyrsecond. "I've come to collect that bronze of mine finally.
Halcyon> N'sales notices Baleera enter and gives her a wave from his vantage point outside the throng of people.
Halcyon> Brenton finds an empty seat near the crowd and sits to watch as
he continues to eat his meatroll setting two other on the table next to him.
Halcyon> Lumina flies over and perches on Kalina's shoulder, chirping at
Skie. She sees the other queen guarding her eggs and her eyes whirl a little
faster.
Halcyon> Skie arrives carrying a small bowl full of raw meat clutched in
his claws. He is having a hard time carrying in.
Halcyon> Cerona shrugs nonchalantly, sending waves to more people as they
enter, "Sure, why not? They're darlings, or so I've heard. Some screechy
ones, though. Haven't any myself, so I'm not really - " she breaks off
with a start at the weaver's shriek, and then notices the dead wherry with a
small grimace. "You should." she finishes to Aisha.
Terrilia grins and takes another couple of steps toward all the commotion, meat in hand. "They're nice to have around, I think. Um, I'll try, Lee, but it sounds like there are a lot of people..."
Halcyon> Lumina flies over and helps the smaller flit carry the bowl to
Aisha.
Halcyon> Baleera clears her throat and forces her way -through- the assembled
throng, getting to where N'sales is standing. "This is rather exciting.
I've never been to one of these before. What does one do, grab some meat and
a hatchling and stuff it in its mouth?"
Halcyon> Yakut eyes Rue a bit archly. "It's a dead wherry, not the boogy
man." she looks around. "What?" she demands. "I was hunting."
And it's true. She's got the bow and arrows to prove it. Then she sighs. I suppose
if someone wants to slice some off of it, they can. It's not like I can't go
out and take down another wherry."
Halcyon> Halcyon croons hard enough that his whole body is vibrating with
the sound, settled right next to Star and enjoying the limelight for the moment.
Halcyon> Tan Threadbare Egg wobbles and shudders off to one side, a small
dent appearing as it knocks against the pot with a muted *thunk*.
Halcyon> Kalina grins at that. "Oh, so may I have some?" she asks
Yakut.
Crysilia manages to nab a warm roll from the serving table, slipping over to where the people are gathering for the 'lizard hatching.
Halcyon> N'sales grins at Baleera and shakes his head. "Got the meat part right." he chuckles, "Hold the meat out for them once they hatch and let them come to you. Don't go grabbing them or they may get frightened and go between." he smiles and hands her some meat which he was given. "Give it a try."
Sarai collects some food and nibbles on meatrolls. Yes meat. Pregnancy. Fun fun.
Jenna oohs, as she cottons onto the commotion, and hurries after Terrilia, "They're hatching now? Is that where Norse got off to?"
Halcyon> Aisha turns around and grabs the bowl of raw meat from Skie, "Thank
you. I knew I could trust you to get it for me." Aisha then looks at Cerona,
"All right then I'll try and impress. You can use some of this faw wherry
meat that I collected a few days ago if you want to."
Halcyon> Yelena pushes her way through the crowd so that she can get a better
look at the eggs. She readies a meatroll between her second and third fingers,
standing on tiptoe as she watches and waits. "Oh, what's happening? Do
you see anything?" she asks of no one in particular.
Halcyon> Rue looks at Yakut with a simpering and apologetic expression and
studders, "S-s-sorry." she looks at the eggs and watches what everyone
else does.
Halcyon> Yakut wordlessly pulls out her Knife (the one that even a few Istan
greenriders envy), reverses it, and offers it to Kalina. "Have at."
Halcyon> Baleera looks down at the pot, then takes the meat between her stubby
fingers. "Well, I've never been one to be too enticing, though I'm good
at offering greedyguts the things they like to consume. Doesn't appear that
any of them have hatched. My, what curious looking eggs these are."
Terrilia's firelizards suddenly reappear to tug at her again, and she rolls her eyes and heads for the inner caverns. "Sorry, they're fairly insistent. Hi Jenna--you're just in time!" She carries the meat on in.
Terrilia strides through the passageway into the Inner Caverns.
Terrilia has left.
You stride through the passageway into the Inner Caverns.
Igen Weyr Inner Caverns(#310RJ)
Igen's inner cavern is smaller than the main living cavern, but still huge by
any standards. Many tables and chairs are scattered about the room, and two
spinning wheels and a large loom sit in one corner. The walls and much of the
floor are covered with a mosaic of colorful rugs, many handcrafted by Igen residents,
making the cavern seem warm and inviting.
The noises to the west suggest the presence of the Weyr's Living Cavern. A door
to the north has an expectant quality to it that implies its home for the Weyr's
Candidates, while the giggles coming from behind the door to the northeast point
out the Nursery. Eastwards lies a hall that seems to contain private rooms.
The storerooms (+view) are off the hallway to the south, closer to the kitchen.

Baleera waves to Jenna.
Kalina takes the knife. "Thanks, " she says, cutting off a few small pieces, managable for the hatchlings.
Lumina croons almost begging for the meat.
Cerona smiles to Yakut. "Fresh wherry meat for the hatchlings...they'll be downright spoiled by the end." She nods to Aisha, "Well, sure, I'll try, if you are." she looks toward Yelena, "Well, some of 'em are wiggling," she offers, oh-so-helpfully.
Lumina stops and suddenly starts to hum.
N'sales gives a wave to Jenna as she enters. "Over here Jenna." he calls over to her. He then makes his way over to the egss so he can watch.
Skie hovers in the air and also begins to hum.
Terrilia comes in carrying a large tray with bowls full of scraps of meat on it. "Here we go..." She smiles bemusedly around at everyone and sets the tray down next to the hearth, then squeezes into a place at the nearest table. She blinks as her eyes fall on the wherry. "My goodness, you came prepared."
Crysilia strides in from the Living Caverns.
Crysilia has arrived.
Kalina smiles, grinning at Terrilia, pieces in her hand. "Yakut did. And Lumina's begging for it."
Jenna comes in on Terrilia's heels, stopping short and blinking a bit at all the people. And at her bronze, who is humming and crooning fit to burst. "Shells," she murmurs. She stands on tiptoe to make sure to see over most of the heads in the crowd, and waves to N'sales and Baleera. "I think I've some dried fingertails," she starts rummaging in her pockets. "Be there in a sec, Norse."
Star's humming intensifies farther. She forgets to watch the people, watching the rocking eggs instead.
Rue whispers loudly to whoever seems to be nearby, "What happens now?" She stares at the bowl of meat with a wrinkled nose, "Is that for us?"
Yelena eyes the meat Terrilia has brought in and sidles over to it. She stuffs the meatroll she is holding into her mouth, then grabs a handful of the raw wherry meat. The white of her tunic now has a spot of luridly orange grease right across the belly.
Splotched Blue Slate Egg rocks as if trying to get started, forward and back, forward and back...and stops again.
Kalina watches the eggs intensely, a quiet look of peace on her face, her eyes lit slightly with excitement. The young woman was ready.
Brenton stands for a moment to get a bowl of the meat with a smile to Terrilia then makes his way back to his table setting the bowl down so everyone nearby can get to it.
Halcyon's humming ratchets up a notch, switching octives. it's rather rusty sounding, but he's trying his best.
Yakut admits, "I really was just coming to look...I forgot about the food thing. But since I was here, I thought I might as well let people take cuts." she seems a bit sheepish. "Can I have my knife back?" she asks Kalina bluntly.
Aisha dips her hands into the little bowl of raw meat that she had skie bring to her and grabs a handful. She makes a face it feels very wet and squishy in her hand. She then skirts around the crowd of people in an attempempt to get closer to the eggs. "I'm ready as I'll ever be."she mutters to no one in particular.
Kalina takes up a bowl of meat and stands quietly, Lumina overhead protectively. Maybe she would get a bronze to fly Lumina.....
Kalina starts, "Oh, yes." She hands the knife back. "Sorry, we're all distracted."
Crysilia slides in from the living caverns, nibbling on a warm roll she took from the serving table. Upon seeing the fairly-large crowd, she steps closer to see if there is a free spot near the clay pot.
Eggs quiver sporadically here and there in the clutch, the frequency increasing as firelizards and humans gather.
Yelena eats another meatroll, attempting to get rid of them before the hatching starts. This leaves seven still heaped in the fold of her tunic. She takes a deep breath and glances excitedly at the faces around her.
Jenna murmurs something vague to Terrilia about being over there if she's needed, with a wave towards N'sales and Baleera, before snagging a small bowl of scraps. She slips through the crowd, and ends up near the two, "Either of you ever been to a lizard hatching before?" She keeps an eye on the rocking eggs and adds to the others around, "I've scraps if anyone doesn't have a handful..."
Rue sits down on her legs with her hands on her knees. "Th-they're moving!" she says with some enthusiasm.
Katerin strides in from the Living Caverns.
Katerin has arrived.
Lumina hums even more, beginning to crescendo to an excited, throbbing hum, a hum that is clearly in soprano range for the queen.
Worn Maroon Egg joins in the action with a shimmy-shake of its own.
N'sales nods to Jenna, "Ahh you made it over here. Baleera hasn't but I have. Never tried for one though." he chuckles.
Ripple strides in from the Living Caverns.
Ripple has arrived.
Splotched Blue Slate Egg rocks again, more determinedly. It picks up speed and finally settles into a steady shaking.
Ripple wings in and starts thrumming in his throat, perching up on a door lintel to watch the clutch hatching.
Yelena spies Katerin's entrance and waves her friend over enthusiastically. "Here, Katerin! Look! They're really rocking now!" She offers Katerin a bit of the meat she is holding. "By the way..." she chews as she speaks, "Thezh meatrollzh are reawwy good..."
Cerona seems to be plotting the procedure out in her head, so she stands quietly for a moment as she slips beside Rue before attempting a reply to her general query. "Yup, the meat's for us to tempt the hatchlings with...and they hatch, and they screech and wail 'cause they're hungry. Ooh, they are really moving now." she observes. So perceptive of her.
Kalina stares at the blue egg, bringing thoughts of welcome, peace, guidance, and friendship, gentleness, to the front of her head.
Brenton takes a few of the scraps from the bowl then grins over at Rue. "Yes, definately moving."
Cracked Pale Blue Egg and the Plush Crushed Egg stir again, this time more vigorously. The pair of eggs knock into each other a few times before slipping apart briefly. One egg rolls in a little circle, and the other one tips over slowly until the two come together again--and stop.
Aisha manages to find a spot fairly close to the clay pot. As the eggs begin to move she nervously moves her quivering hands full of raw meat over near the edge of the clay pot.
Halcyon's rusty sounding croon may be endearing to his human, and the runner girl is beaming rather happily at the bronze, but it does grate a trifle on the nerves.
Yakut grins just a bit. "Tease." she remarks of the eggs in general. "Anyone else want a cut of wherry?"
Kalina takes a couple pieces of meat from the bowl, the calm, serenading thoughts in her mind, strongly prepared to be projected.
Star continues her proud hum, a much more welcoming sound than the chirrs and hisses she's been wont to produce the last few sevendays.
Katerin gapes as she enters to find the room full, and hears the humming sound. "It's now???" she gasps. "And I don't have any scraps with me!"
Rue looks back at Brenton with pale brows raised high, "What d-do we do?"
A'dhan walks out of a cavern opening.
A'dhan has arrived.
Terrilia settles back against the table and smiles, waving Katerin over. "Plenty here on the floor," she calls, grinning.
Lumina feels the thoughts of her friend and her eyes whirl a peaceful blue as she continues humming, crescendoing to be louder and louder and more vibrant with each hum.
Jenna offers to N'sales and Baleera, "Just wave meat at them." She offers the bowl out to one and sundry around her. "Tempt them out and stuff them silly. -- Who needs more meat?" She lifts the bowl up high, on the opposite side of the crowd from Terrilia. Might as well space this out at least.
Brenton shrugs and picks up the bowl of meat offering it out. "I'm not exactly sure. I think we just hold meat out and hope." He says with a smile.
Splotched Blue Slate Egg makes a grinding cracking noise as it shakes, and half of the egg finally splits away, allowing the hatchling inside to fall out into the sand, tail-first.
This fellow is certainly unique and in more ways than just his shading. Bronze
like a faded caldron used over many turns, this fellow is fairly even in his
shadings - fairly being the operative word. What could only be described as
puffs of smoke seem to cling to his hindquarters; lingering there as though
something blew the decor on him rather than they being marks made from birth.
Glancing at the spot between his wing joints at the near center of his back
displays another unusual mark as well. Almost amber in its hue, a perfect square
of Rukbat-lit color clings to that space. His overall appearance might make
one think that he is a product of flash and trash, so to speak. His muzzle betrays
a rather handsome visage indeed! But his back end...somehow to two halves of
him seem mismatched. He will be a loyal and loving companion, most times needing
some serious prodding to get him working at all, though.

(looks like the front of a Camaro was stuck onto the back of a Nova) )
Drellon's firelizards, a gold and a bronze, don't hum. They make chirps and squeaks of interest, but the only one humming is Drellon. As his sister, the rider, steps back from the crowd, he works on elbowing his bony way in and finding a prime spot near the eggs. "What do you two want? A little brown brother, or maybe a pretty green?" he asks of the 'lizards on his shoulder, before he goes back to making a very bad attempt at humming along with the firelizards.
Katerin grins at Terrilia and takes a spot where indicated. "I can't believe it's finally here!" She settles down and takes some scraps, excited but trying to calm herself as she beams.
Crysilia smiles broadly as the plate of meats is near her reach. Managing to 'borrow' a few slices for herself, she finds a space near the pot - watching other people around her to see what they do when a 'lizard approaches.
Smoky Sunspot Bronze Hatchling raises his handsome visage - no wait, that's his ugly hind end! Squawking at being in such an undignified position, he rights himself and gets the good side - the muzzle side - pointed out to the crowd. Creeling, eyes red with hunger, he lurches forward, intent on his first meal.
Star trills a bright welcome to the little hatchling.
Tan Threadbare Egg *thunks* again against the pot's side, and the dent becomes a spinners' web of traveling cracks. They can't and don't hold up for long under the onslaught of the hatchling's struggles, and a small green soon pushes her way free.
The light shimmers as it rolls off of the sleek curves of this little firelizard
making it hard to immediately spot that she's a green. There is a gauzy-thin
pattern of soft glowing off-white areas that blur and blend into the darker
shadows of an almost teal color. Overall, this green looks like polished jade,
from the lighter colorations along her spurs to the deeper green colorations
on her wingsails. Her haunches are rounded and fade ever-so-slightly to a darker
shade, with another soft highlight lining the bottom of her haunches. Smooth
and sleek, this firelizard may be a trifle on the small side, but she knows
how to maneuver. She conveys a feeling of smoothness right down to the regular
way she swishes her tail.

Aisha looks very surprised as one of the eggs hatches. She does everything she can to hold her hand steady above the pot.
Yelena grins at Jenna. "Thanks, I've got more than I can handle..." She trails off as she sees the first egg pop open, revealing its handsome bronze contents. "Oh, look, a bronze!" She begins waggling raw meat furiously in the creature's direction, hoping to entice it. "Here, gorgeous! Want some foooooood???"
Kalina reaches forward, quietly holding meat out to the hatchling. "Here, " she murmurs to the little bronze.
Baleera looks down and catches her breath. "Oooh, he's a beaut. I would have thought that there was a blue in that one." She remembers to wiggle her fingers with the meat in it, though, trying for enticing.
N'sales nods to Jenna taking some meat to show Baleera what to do. "Like this." He holds the meat out moving it a little for the benefit of the little firelizards. "This way it looks alive."
Yakut looks on, nodding her head. "Good luck, that." she comments, again to no one at all. She watches the fire lizards scramble for food, the wherry slung along her shoulder, forgotten.
Kalina focuses on her thoughts. Peace, gentleness, calm, and love was flowing from her with as much vigor as she could muster it from herself. Lumina was certainly reacting to it.
Rue says "Oh." she says and smiles lightly back at Brenton. She picks up a piece of meat from a nearby bowl with two fingers and looks at it unsurely. "They like to eat /this/? Okay, here goes nothing..""
Brenton grins over at Rue. "Look! There's two of them. Isn't that little green cute?" He looks at the others and wiggles his meat.
Cerona filches some raw scraps to add to the small collection she has from Aisha's bowl, and she looks somewhat grateful as Brenton is appointed the explainer. She adds her own 'ooh' to the chorus as the hatchlings begin to arrive, and meat-laden fingers extend outward.
Kalina gently moves the meat from the left to the right, then slowly moves it toward the bronze. "Come, " she whispers lovingly. "I'll take care of you."
Crysilia tilts her head, using her free hand to slide her loose bangs from her eyes absently. Seeing other people 'wiggle' the meat slices, she proceeds to mimic the same action.
Worn Maroon Egg rolls its way through the protective sand, bobbing and weaving before it boldly comes to rest against a neighbor.
Yelena gets a glimpse of the green and, momentarily paralyzed with indecision, forgets herself and shoves one of the meatrolls the green's way, sending the rest of the rolls she has hoarded plopping to the floor. She sees them fall and hisses, "Shards!" She looks up at the hatchlings abruptly. "Oh, little darlings, I didn't mean /your/ shards...." She smiles sweetly at them, continuing to waggle the food.
A'dhan walks in from the long tunnel from the bowl. He slips to the back of the crowd, looking over them at the hatchlings. He chuckles softly at the calls and meat shaking before settling down in a chair nearby.
Katerin catches her breath as she watches the first two eggs hatch. "Oh, they're wonderful!" She looks around at all the people in the room, a little worried at her chances of befriending one, and spots her cousin in the crowd. "Hey there, Drell!" she greets, before turning her attention back to the humming and wobbling before her.
Lumina watches Kalina talk softly to the bronze hatchling with great interest. The little bronze would grow to be a strong bronze flit... She crooned welcomingly, a warble uttered from her throat.
Rue follows Brenton's lead and jiggles the meat around to either of the hatchlings. She almost drops it as she holds the drippy morself of raw flesh as far away from her new trousers as she can. A weaver is a weaver. "H-here you go."
Drellon starts to hold out a strip of drippy herdbeast toward the bronze, only to yelp in pain as the bronze on his shoulder, not even a turn's growth yet itself, bites his ear and scolds him unmercifully. "All right, all right, Beast, I see you won't accept any competition." Grumbling at his luck, he withdraws his offering and focuses his attention on his cousin. "Hi, Katerin! If I were you I'd stay away from these little creeps altogether."
Yakut steps a bit closer, craning her neck to watch the action. "Hey, let a person see, yeh?"
Jenna lobs a bit of wherry at the bronze absently. "Sometimes it helps to lay down a trail to encourage 'em towards the people. Must be awful intimidating to see all those faces."
Aisha finally manages to steady her hand. She begins to follow what the others are doing. she begins to wiggle her meat. She smiles nervously doubting that she will ever be lucky enough to impress one but daring enough to try anyways.
Polished Jade Green Hatchling looks around and spots some meat dangling quite close. She tilts her head and pursues it, moving to the edge of the egg pot.
Halcyon gives a croaky trill upon seeing the bronze and green hatch, and then resumes humming, fit to burst with pride.
Checked Red and Gray Egg shivers in the sands.
Smoky Sunspot Bronze Hatchling maneuvers that atrocious hindquarters around - who says bronzes aren't as vain as queens? Even when driven by hatching hunger. His little eyes are spinning angrily as he makes a grab for a gob of wherry tossed in his direction. In fact, it barely misses his best feature - his muzzle. The food is quickly bolted and he squawks impatiently for more.
Kalina gently tilts the meat toward the bronze hatchling. "Easy, easy does it, " she murmurs, slowly encouraging the bronze to get up and walk toward the offered meal.
N'sales chuckles at Jenna, "I would say, I certainly would be."
Katerin giggles. "And yet, here you are, with meat in your hand..." She grins over at A'dhan as he enters, and gives him a wink, waving a scrap of meat in her hand.
Dendra strides in from the Living Caverns.
Dendra has arrived.
Yelena hears Jenna's suggestion and, suddenly inspired, follows it: squatting down on the floor, she arranges the meatrolls that she dropped moments earlier into a relatively straight path leading directly to /her/ - and her waggling raw wherry. She smiles with satisfaction.
Worn Maroon Egg won't wait--it rolls back slightly and bursts open with a sharp *crrack!* The race is on and the little brown is out of his shell and on his way.
He's built for speed, lithe and lean and low, every line curved, rounded, and
swept back toward his flanks. No extra weight or baby fat here, and though within
the normal range for browns, he's a little on the small side, too, adding to
his agility. He's dark as a cinder, a brown that nearly shades to black in streaks
across his belly, wings, and tail. Some reddish tones play across his wingsails,
too, like flames glimpsed through a dark curtain. Across his flanks there's
a lighter patch, almost as if someone rubbed mud in swirls over the darker brown.
Already there's a certain masculine strength about him, along with a sure and
steady confidence and willingness to go and do that almost borders on recklessness.

Cerona chuckles at Yelena's meatroll, "Maybe they'll enjoy that moreso," she offers with a grin. Attention focuses back on the eggs and hatchlings, and fingers wiggle, raw meat sent a-wavering. A grin goes up to the bronze clutchdaddy, whatever grating in his trill seeming forgivable for his expression, and then back to the newly hatched brown.
N'sales holds his meat out towards the bronze as it creels for more, getting caught up in the action himself. So much for just showing Baleera.
Speedy Burnt Sienna Brown Hatchling is ready to go! He's already on his way toward the edge of the pot and tumbling down, creeling impatiently with hunger as he looks around. So much meat, so little time...
Kalina sends feelings of love and care, and guidance toward the little bronze. "Please...let me feed you, " she whispers, gently moving the meat toward the hatchling's mouth.
Brenton looks over at the bronze and chuckles then turns his attention back to the green wiggling his meat out.
Aisha again wiggles her meat. She is so intent on doing that that she doesn't even see the little brown.
Yakut grins, distract now by the overeager brown. "He's got a pretty color." she seems rather fond of making general comments no one pays attention to.
Baleera gives a chuckle and studies the faces around her. She can't help it, it's part of her training. So many years being hostess at parties for WineCraft... the new hatchling jolts her attention back, and she joins in with the crooning and waggling clever little hopefuls, trying to entice the firelizard towards her.
Jenna shifts aside, offering Yakut her spot closer to the front. "Here, slide in here. He seems to like wherry," she offers in encouragement to those around her.
Polished Jade Green Hatchling eyes that nervously wiggling meat. She twitches her little tail back and forth and CREELS loudly, making a little jump for it.
Crysilia chuckles softly, trying to nibble on the warm roll she brought in one hand and trying to jiggle the meat strips in front of the approaching 'lizards in the other.
Drellon's bronze monster scolds his owner again before he even thinks about offering any meat to the brown. Left with few options and unwilling to sit out the hatching entirely, the gangly boy flips and drips in the green's general direction. "Now don't /you/ start on me," he warns to the gold on his shoulder. She seems more interested in nibbling on his hair than the hatching.
Smoky Sunspot Bronze Hatchling draws ever closer to those biiiiig human things, unable to resist the smells of the offerings. And why shouldn't they offer him tidbits!? After all, he is a handsome devil - his posterior not withstanding - and he has a great deal to offer a companion. Particularly if he can get fed out of the deal!
Rue waggles her meat around and starts to get into the motion, dancing her shoulders around while she does so. "M-munchies!"
Polished Jade Green Hatchling stumbles towards Aisha.
Katerin sighs and turns back toward the pot. She tries to forget the crowd of onlookers, and focuses her thoughts on welcoming the new hatchlings.
Yelena sees that speedy little brown and croons to him, practically twittering with her tongue against her teeth and lips. It is a really terrible impression of a firelizard croon. She continues to waggle the meat, speaking to the small ones in soothing tones. "That's it...I know you're hungry...won't you have some of this? It's delicious..." She still has a meatroll in her left hand, and she demonstrates its deliciousness by taking a bite and closing her eyes ecstatically. "Mmmmmm! So yummy!"
Speedy Burnt Sienna Brown Hatchling is underway and barreling right toward some dangling meat. It's all around! This one's close, and he's in a hurry...
Dendra strolls in from the kitchen, carrying a covered tray. She stops short at the sight of the huge crowd and blurts out, "Shells, what the heck is going on?"
Speedy Burnt Sienna Brown Hatchling stumbles towards Kalina.
Plush Crushed Blue Egg and the Cracked Pale Egg quiver, one and then the other almost as if in conversation. With a tearing sound, both eggs rip open simultaneously.
Plush Crushed Blue Egg rips open and a little blue hatchling tumbles out headfirst, blinking in amazement.
*Sparkle*Glimmer*Shine*! As if being freshly blown by a Glasscraft Master,
this sprite blue near gleams from muzzle to tail tip as he rolls off of the
showroom sand. He is a perfect shade of a summer's lake blue; sparkles glisten
off of his birth wet hide like twinkles of sunshine do on water's surface. As
he turns a bit, one almost gets the impression that he has metallic flecks striped
beneath each wing. He near-purrs once he gets going and likely will be a fast
and agreeable companion for turns to come.

Cracked Pale Blue Egg rips open and a little blue hatchling tumbles out tailfirst, creeling demandingly.
This stocky dark indigo hatchling seems all akimbo, large wing sails and tail
of his sire coming to the fore. Curls of bluish smoke wreath from his muzzle,
wrapping gauzily across his eyes and headknobs before dispersing down his neck
and disappearing into seawater poured over his muscular form. His wings are
bulky sails with an onyx tinge, the dribbles like volcanic sand over sapphire
wingspars and trailing down to a hint of silver dust along the trailing edge.
The hoary sparkle continues over his legs and haunches, adding a hint of flash
and dazzle. His tail is like his wings, a trifle too long for his body, and
in that same dark shade that marks the rest of his hide. And yet, the hint of
blue haze is repeated here, fogging that tail in an impenetrable cloud.

A'dhan stands and takes a piece of meat from one of the bowls. He squeezes and makes his way through the crowd to kneel next to Katerin. "Finally caught up with you." He dangles the piece of meat half-heartedly.
Rue watches the little green go toward Aisha and the brown to Kalina, and smiles. She seems to be more comfortable here now and she even says, "Congratulations." without so much as a studder. She turns her attention to the newly hatched boys and waggles the meat around some more.
Yakut is unable to help herself as she leans in more, watching all the excitement. The plucked wherry slides forward, and she absently pushes it out of her way, only to have it fall forward again.
Yelena grins at her fellow Igenites as the little lizards begin to Impress. "Congratulations!" She whispers to Aisha and Kalina before returning to her soft crooning. "heeeere you goooooo....mmmmm! Gooooooooood...." She eyes the lovely new blue, beaming softly. "Oh, aren't /you/ a pretty one!"
Shiny Lake Blue Hatchling raises his head from the sand and shakes it off with a squeak of alarm. Oh look, hello! He peers toward his freshly-hatched clutchsibling.
Katerin grins, and makes a pretend pout at A'dhan. "Now watch, you'll get another one, and I'll /still/ be firelizardless...."
Aisha looks adoringly at her new green.
N'sales watches as two of the firelizards impress and he smiles warmly. He had forgotten how exciting a hatching was even if these little ones are much smaller than thier cousins. He holds the meat out a little further towards the group in the pot before being momentarily distracted and pushing it even closer to the maws of the poor hungry hatchlings
Smoky Sunspot Bronze Hatchling leaps upwards at his favorite tidbit! Wherry!
And plucked too! He rushes awkwardly towards Yakut, wings held high.
Smoky Sunspot Bronze Hatchling stumbles towards Yakut.
Terrilia grins and looks up briefly to wave to Dendra. "Hi Dendra! Star's eggs are hatching!"
Cantankerous Frustrating Blue Hatchling gives a hiss of displeasure as he struggles to right himself, wings and tail all akimbo. What is it with mom not positioning these eggs just right so that he doesn't come out bass-ackwards anyway! He finally gains his feet, wings already quickly drying, and hisses unpleasantly at everything around, including his apparent twin that had just hatched beside him.
Cerona seems perfectly comfortable in the crowd, having managed to sipher a spot. She giggles at Yelena, "That hardly ever works with the littles, but only because its overused." she remarks, grinning, and then extends her arm further towards the hatchlings. "Oh, pretty blue color...and another!" Of course, the hatchlings' chosen ones get a cheer as they're discovered.
Shiny Lake Blue Hatchling blinks, that wasn't quite what he had in mind. He tries a friendlier sort of creel, still shaking sand away. And then raises his head, sniffing. What's that wonderful smell?
Brenton just continues wiggling his wherry absently with a sile on his face as he watches the antics of the two little blues.
Yelena giggles at the contrast between the two blues - one confident, the other clumsy and cantankerous. Charmed, she dangles food toward both of them. "So handsome....I looooove bluuuuue...." she murmurs.
"Woah!" Yakut almost rocks back with the force of the little bronze's leap torward her...or more importantly, the wherry. "Hey now, hey!" she blinks, stunned as the little thing feasts triumphantly.
Baleera smiles as the Bronze chooses Yakut. "Good show!"
Rue giggles at the frustrated little blue. "Oh w-what a nice hide you h-have little guy!"
Drellon, despite his earlier decrying of firelizards as beasts and creeps, gives a disappointed sound as the green impresses. "What about blue? Either of you object?" he asks of either shoulder decoration. Gold continues preening, and the bronze busies himself ogling his shiny shouldermate. Relieved, Drellon starts sticking a piece of meat between each finger, then dangles all three toward both blues.
Katerin giggles at the antics of the hatchlings, and holds her piece of meat out tentatively, radiating friendly thoughts.
Crysilia shuffles her feet beneath her, continuing to squat down as she holds a half-eaten roll and cooling strips of herdbeast meat. "Wow. Quite amazing." She notes with a huge smile.
Checked Red and Gray Egg had fallen still, but now seems to gather itself for a major effort. It tosses from side to side, straining at its shell until it creaks.
Cantankerous Frustrating Blue Hatchling scowls. He does! Honest! There are those that say a firelizard is unable to look unhappy. Well, they haven't seen this lad. He's hungry, sandy, gritty, and the world is a far more unpleasant place than his egg was. He stumbles over a tidbit of wherry his bronze clutchsibling missed and downs it gratefully, only to hiss at the other blue moving awkwardly about. Seems nothing is quite right for this fellow.
A'dhan chuckles at Katerin. "I can go sit back down, I wouldn't want to keep you from getting one." He watches the hatchlings with a smile.
Cerona quirks a brow. "See, Aisha?" she stage-whispers across to her fellow nanny. "She's lovely." With a smile, she focuses on the meat in her hands, and then takes another bit and then a larger slab. Soon, there's a stack, sandwich-like, and minute enough for a hatchling. This new creation is extended, and Rona's gaze rests on the wiggling eggs as well.
Shiny Lake Blue Hatchling sniffs at his "twin" brother and looks around. He needs some of that, too! He stumbles toward the edge of the egg pot, still sniffing, and gives a hopeful, optimistic creel, despite the sand still on his nose.
Yelena is now giggling almost uncontrollably as she watches the interplay between the two blues. She quiets slightly, merely observing for a long moment, her meat still dangling enticingly. "Mmmmm....meatroll yummmmmy...."
N'sales looks at Baleera, "So what do you think so far?" he has turned his attention back to the pot and the two blues. He watches with amusement at the antics of the one blue. "Quite a personality that one has."
Katerin bumps her shoulder against A'dhan's playfully. "No, that's fine...I was just kidding."
Dendra wiggles her way over to Terrilia and says, "I should have known, when I smelled all the raw meat. Looks like you got quite a turnout! Even stole one of my bakers, I see."
Aisha grins at cerona, "Yes she is the most beautifyl fire lizard I have ever seen. It is hard to believe she is mine."
Greasy White and Black Egg jumps as if startled, then stills again.
Baleera smiles. "I think that it's a good thing I brought a pair of kegs for L'son tonight. Assuming he doesn't hoard them, there'll be plenty of enjoyment for the rest of us. Are you hoping for a firelizard too? Won't your dragon be jealous?"
Brenton chuckles over at one of the blues. "That egg goo must be sticky, got all that sand on there." He says mostly to himself still offering out a piece of meat.
Rue wiggles the meat around in her tightly pressed fingers and inevitably, a drop of meat juice spats a spot on her trousers. She looks down immediately, with a look of doom on her normally plesant face, with her free hand she tries franticly to rub the spot out.
N'sales grins as he looks over at Baleera, "I wasn't planning on it, heh but it is so much fun." he shakes his head, "Orenth, shaw he would probably love the company and the attention knowing him."
Cantankerous Frustrating Blue Hatchling huffs at the Shiny Lake Blue, pointedly turning his smoke-tipped muzzle up at his clutchsibling. He marches straigh past him and turns to one side, headed towards a clump of people and food. Will /someone/ get this annoyingly happy lad away from him?
Yelena grins at Rue and the latter's new spot, jerking her own chin toward her now grotesquely soiled tunic. "At least it isn't white, lass..." she chuckles, one eye still on the cute little blue brothers. "No, no!" she gently chides, "...over here! You can't eat your brother!"
Drellon eyes the twin blues carefully, and finally announces, "/That/ one looks like your type, Beast," nodding his head toward the more nasty-tempered of the two. Beast just chirps innocently, lacking understanding of the implication. Meanwhile, while his sister cheers him on in the background, Drellon tries to steer his hand closer to the /nice/ blue than the other.
Shiny Lake Blue Hatchling croons happily and follows right along. The more
the merrier, right? Where are we going, anyway? Oooo--that looks good! With
a sudden burst of speed, he overtakes his brother and leaps toward a dangling
piece of meat in a young Igenite girl's hands.
Shiny Lake Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Yelena.
A'dhan waves his meat a little at the grumpy blue hatchling. "I like that one." He says with a nod, then glances at Katerin.
I'sai wanders out of the nursery, fair hair all dishevelled thanks to a recent bout with Alain, a bit of a furrow between his slanty brows.
Weathered Gray Leather Egg teeters from one side to the other, and the sound of scrabbling claws can be heard from within.
Cantankerous Frustrating Blue Hatchling jumps forward at the crowd, in the
wake of the Shiny Lake Blue. Hey! None of that! That was for him. He's sure
of it! He hisses rather balefully, clamoring towards the source of that meatroll.
That young igenite girl now has a pair on her hands.
Cantankerous Frustrating Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Yelena.
Yelena eeps in startled happiness as the confident little blue veribly leaps into her arms! She gathers the meatrolls she had arranged on the floor once the wherry she has offered him is gone. "Oh! Look at you! Gorgeous!"
Terrilia grins as she watches the hatchlings and nods to Dendra. "Yeah, Katerin? She's been glued to the eggs all week..." Her smile brightens and she waves to I'sai. "Igen's Duties!" she calls over all the noise. "Oh, congratulations, Yelena!"
Checked Red and Gray Egg groans under the strain as it tosses to and fro. With a mighty heave and an audible *pop* it splits in two, stranding a blue hatchling on its back. The little thing creels at this undignified position and struggles to his feet.
A bit large and almost sluggish seeming, not really economical in his movements,
though not truely wasteful either. This blue's hide is more of a grey, with
undertones that are darker and seem to hold glimpses of the the truer hues you
expect he ought to be, as he has the faded apperance of something once bright,
but left out in the sun too long. He seems to hesitate when he moves slowly,
but never fear, he'll get there. Oh he might take a break here or there. Rest
is important after all, but then, when you least expect it, he takes off with
a burst of speed and a gritty determination that nearly screams 'I'm coming
through, outta my way!'

Cerona seems rather proud of her proffered scrap sandwich, but stops adjusting it as the blue pair's continued antics draw her attention. That's diverted, however, with a startled glance at Yelena, "Faranth, no you can't eat your brother!" she chimes in, and then applauds Yelena's Impression of the pair. "Oh, have fun with those two," she says with a giggle.
Crysilia grins wryly, deciding to hold out the half of a fresh roll and 'beast slices out to the hatchlings who venture out of the pot at various speeds. She chuckles as she watches the two blues jump over to Yelena.
Yakut is somewhat moved off to the side, and vainly trying to keep a newly hatched bronze from devouring an /entire/ plucked wherry. "No, no, no, you'll get sick!" she says, trying to pull him off as gently as she can manage. The worry in her tone would likley shock those who know her.
Brenton laughs as the two both make their way towards Yelena. "Good luck with those two, miss." He grins over then back out at the hatchlings looking down at his meat and wiggling it about.
N'sales chuckles as both blues attach themselves to her. He is quickly caught again though as another egg splits open and another blue emerges. He wiggles the meat out towards him.
Greasy White and Black Egg hops again, twitching over onto a different side.
Sun-Faded Determined Blue Hatchling fans his wings, eyes wheeling with the intensity of hatching hunger. You didn't put enough in that shell, ma! He slides a bit on the sand, already headed towards the big human things with an assured air. There are dangly bits over that way he's sure are for him.
Rue finally seems to get most of the spot from her dark pants (you really can't notice the spot anyway), and she looks up to see the blue pair Impress to the same girl. "Life is i-ironic." she smiles and waggles the meat some more, careful this time not to get any drippings.
Yelena practically creels in confusion and delight as the little blue's /brother/ swiftly follows the first! She scrambles to poke food into the hungry little maws fast enough!
Dawn's Shadowed Classics Egg rolls slowly over with the quiet majesty of the sun rising above the horizon at dawn.
"'It's a dry heat,'" I'sai quotes back at Terrilia, rather darkly. "Brees says hello, by the by," this last extended to the other Igenites. He adds to the weaver apprentice, "What's - ironic - about it?"
Star hums, ruffling her wings proudly as she watches over eggs and hatchlings.
Aisha has moved off to the side away from the crowd trying to feed her green and watch the hatching at teh same time.
Terrilia chuckles and nods to I'sai. "Tell her hi back! I really mean to get over and visit."
Drellon continues holding out his offering in the direction of the egg basket. He doesn't even try particularly hard, just letting the slimy meat drip over the floor. Whoever cleans up after the hatching will /love/ that.
The scrabbling sounds from the Weathered Gray Leather Egg grow louder. Some shell flakes away and an egg-slimed snout can be briefly seen before it is withdrawn.
Greasy White and Black Egg hop-hop-hops, skipping along the sand until it clunks into the side of the pot and cracks open.
Short may be the first word that comes to your mind as you look at this little
green firelizard. The dark sea green of her triangular head lightens across
her body as if a strong wind scattered the green spot of her muzzle. A short
tail and wings are her principal characteristics, but this young clumsy lady
has another one. She seems to move only using jumps. Unexpected and spontaneous
jumps. Like a crazy, uncontrollable hiccup.
(Credit: F'tan Inspiration: 1993 Opel Kadett 1.3 S)
Halcyon's rusty sounding hum just keeps going on and on and on. Poor thing will have no throat left once this is all over. Jenna offers over the dried fingertails to Baleera and N'sales, "Here, try these too? Maybe for something different?"
Tart and Tawdry Egg seems to ripple gently, as if stretching after a long nap.
Brenton turns ot I'sai and laughs. "Well, it is a dry heat. Will you give her my greetings when you see her?" He says over then glances back at the hatchlings.
Rue almost seems startled by the rider addressing her, she smiles shyly and explains, studdering of course, "W-well, ironic that th-the little sour blue w-would still end up with his b-brother."
Crazy Hiccup Green Hatchling tumbles out, end over end. It takes her a minute to right herself, which she does with a move that's almost a flip. And sits there, peering about bemusedly.
N'sales nods to Jenna, taking the piece of meat in his other hand. He dangles both pieces out towards the firelizards, smiling back to Jenna, "Thanks."
Dendra waves to I'sai and says, "HEy there! Welcome to chaos!" She tries to find a spot to put her tray down, and finally balances it on the corner of a low table, using to let to keep it there. "Uncle Balasca will just have to wait for his second dinner. There's no way I'll get through this crowd."
Katerin looks around wistfully as one hatchling after another finds someone /else/ to befriend. She smiles hopefully up at Star, thinking, remember me? I fed you scraps...can you tell your babies I'm their friend?...She holds her meat scrap out with a little more determination.
Weathered Gray Leather Egg continues its scrabbling and tossing, and that egg-slimed snout pokes out again. A few moments later, the hole has been satisfactorily enlarged and the rest of the brown hatchling slithers through the opening in the brittle shell.
A reddish-brown mass of wings and claws, this hatchling's hide looks as if
it is covered in dirt. Even after a good scrubbing, the illusion of a layer
of dirt will remain. Along the lower part of his sides, the brown turns darker
almost black, and his spine lightens to allow more of the reddish tint to show
through. His legs are shorter than most other firelizards', bringing his belly
closer to the ground, so much so that when he runs it scrapes the ground occassionally.
A reliable companion, though he may have a bit of a temper at times.

Baleera chuckles and takes the fingertail. "Thank you. Perhaps this will entice better, since it's a different sort of food than the meat."
Sun-Faded Determined Blue Hatchling knows exactly what he wants, and how to get it too. He swoops down on a bite of discarded meatroll crumbs, gobbling it up without any wasted effort. That done, he starts wading briskly through the sand on the hearth and drawing closer to the humans. That's enough to tide him over until he can find the one with the biggest pile of tidbits! He does not pause, single minded in his quest.
Yelena is practically in tears with joy as she scoots the stray meatrolls toward her with her foot, both little blue brothers gazing up at her with adoration and famishment. She readies a meatroll in each hand, saying, "Here! Here's another one! Open the cavern, here comes the dwagonnnnnnnn!" With that, she pops the meatrolls into the hungry little mouths!
"Still end up with his... his brother?" I'sai questions her back, just shy of repeating the stutter; "I missed that, unfortunately." He hesitates, then crouches by her, and gives the little green hatchling a cross-eyed look while he's at it. To Brenton, "What should I say your name is? If I say 'tall fellow with red hair' she'll, well, she'll look at me funny or something."
Rue watches the hiccup-jumping green hatchling and shakes her head mildly with sympathy, "I k-know h-how you feel." she studders (as always).
Low-Down Dirty Brown Hatchling slides out onto the sand and gives himself a shake, crouching down low to the ground as he looks about.
Low-Down Dirty Brown Hatchling fans open his wings. Whew! It was cramped in there! He starts to take an unsteady step and his legs promptly give way, dumping him to the sand. Well now! He sits for a moment, not eager to try that one again just yet.
Crysilia watches the small 'lizards hatch one by one, raising her thin eyebrows at each of their different antics. Shaking her head, he continues to offer half of a fresh roll and meat strips eagerly to those that come close enough to her.
N'sales ahhs at the bown as his legs give way. "Oh be carefull there little one. Some food will help you get your strength." he offers what he has in his hands in an outstretched entreaty.
From Drellon's fingers dangle thrice the meal of any /single/ offering (unless, of course, said offering is a heap on the ground). "Hey, c'mere, these two won't let me stick around much longer," he hisses to the hatchling. As if it might care.
Cerona sends her glance over the crowd momentarily, then back to the eggs - a /lot/ are moving now. Meat is rippled, as the jumpy sea-colored green also becomes a section of her focus, and Rona smiles at the somersault-like movement. "Let's hope she doesn't hurt herself." she comments generally, watching the chaos that is a firelizard hatching.
Delren steps in from the Resident's Hallway.
Delren has arrived.
Brenton looks over at I'sai and laughs. "Either that or just laugh. Brenton, or just Brent, or her big brother. Any of those will do." His gaze flickers between I'sai and the hatchlings meat still extended.
Sun-Faded Determined Blue Hatchling trips on a bit of shards and goes sprawling. He tries to look suave as he ends up snout first on the edge of the sandy area, only just missing scraping his muzzle. He meant to do that, really. So much for that glorious quest of his. Eyes still wheeling red, he lets out a piteous creel, abandoning any attempt at chic-ness. Won't someone come help him up and feed him? Thankfully, he landed smack in half a fresh roll and meatstrips, and starts gobbling them down without delay.
Rue nods to I'sai and repeats, "Y-yeah. Both b-blue b-rothers Impressed to the s-same girl." she shrugs and waggles her meat at the little hatchlings.
Crazy Hiccup Green Hatchling peers about and decides things are too busy up here in the sand. With another hop, she's out of the pot and tumbling again on the floor. Righting herself, she hop-hop-hops toward the food, her creeling bouncing louder as she goes.
Sun-Faded Determined Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Crysilia.
Yakut finally does manage to pull the little bronze away, and the sigh she gives the now wrecked carcass is only vaguely resigned. She looks over. "Oh. Um, hello, I'sai." she frowns faintly, looking down at the bronze and succumbing to the urge to stroke his back.
Dawn's Shadowed Classics Egg rolls over again, picking up speed. It gives an energetic spin as the hatchling inside pounds away at the tough, brittle shell.
Low-Down Dirty Brown Hatchling gets up and starts to move forward again, eyes whirling with the reds of hatching hunger. But wait. Something's not *quite* right here. His belly is dragging the ground as he walks. He gives an odd hop and skip, wings held up wide to balance him, and promptly falls flat again. Giving a tinny bugle of frustration, he clamors to his feet and sucks his belly in. It's not full yet! How can it be dragging!
Smoke Black Egg rolls and roils, tossing about as if buffeted by a strong wind.
The firelizards on Drellon's shoulders suddenly start to bicker from behind his neck, creeling and chattering at each other and taking mock-nips from around his hair. Frustrated, the visiting boy tosses his meaty offering to the floor in front of him, and works to try to separate the two.
Crysilia blinks a few times to her surprise, giving up her offerings without question to the little blue. She chuckles, tearing up another meat strip into chewable pieces. "I guess I don't need a boyfriend for a while." She adds with an amused tone.
Baleera gives a hurrah. "Here's for the WineCrafter! Congratulations, Crysilia! Good work, girl. Remind me to give you a freeday next month for it."
Crazy Hiccup Green Hatchling creels again in confusion and hunger as she looks around. Where can she go?
N'sales watches the brown with bemusement and interest. "Carefull there little one."
Tart and Tawdry Egg ripples and creaks again. Seems this egg is going to stretch itself apart.
Yelena looks down at her new owners, beaming ecstatically. "Oooh! You need names, you do!" She strokes down the long, slender necks of the Blue Brothers. "/You/ look like a Jake...." she murmurs to the Shiny Blue Hatchling. "...and you? Definitely an /Elwood/...." She beams.
I'sai laughs with him, "Brother. Got it. Somehow, I think she'd even recognize it, imagine that... Well, if it's any consolation, though they're not betweening -yet-, she's been safe enough so far. As these things go." At that creel, he holds out a hand, palm out, lest the little green hop too far out - though not without glancing toward the cracking egg, too. "Two, eh. Which one is she, mind pointing her out? All these people... hope hers don't spit up in my boot the way So does." And then, to Yakut, a sudden smile. "You again? How's the hunting?"
Coming Apart at the Seams Egg already looks as if it's coming apart--surely it won't take much to escape from this confining shell. Yet it does seem to be taking some effort. Muffled blows from inside make the egg shudder in place.
Rue smiles and offers Congrats to Crysilia as well. She finally seems to have gotten used to the texture of raw meat in her fingers and flips it around for the little young firelizards.
Aisha finally after a lot of thinking comes up with a name for her new green, She looks over at Cerona, and Terrilia, "What do you think of the name Jade?"
Crazy Hiccup Green Hatchling tips her head--aha! She bounces forward with something
like a pounce to try to snatch that raw meat from those accustomed fingers.
Crazy Hiccup Green Hatchling stumbles towards Rue.
Yakut smirks. "Me again. I normally hunt on the island, but well...all the wherries come out salty like, and I thought maybe to try and hunt in a different area. So the watch dragon brought me to Igen. This was a bit unexpected." The fire lizard curled along her arm lets out a content little burp and lids his eyes.
Low-Down Dirty Brown Hatchling is utterly starving! His distraction and struggle with his physique has him snapping at any food within reach. Rearing back on hind legs, he makes a grab for a bit of wherry someone is dangling, only to have that tummy and short legs of his overbalance him yet again! He gives a creel of anger, and propels himself out of the sand on his tummy. Apparently, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! A wing stretches up to bat wherry out of an inattentive hand.
Dawn's Shadowed Classics Egg spins this way and that, tracing an odd little zig-zagging line in the sands. Just as it reaches the edge of the pot, two small gleaming foreclaws break through the shell, rending it to bits. In seconds, the egg is gone and the little gold is free.
Streamlined. A singular word which fits this little lady to a 'T'. Though lusciously
curved, her form is still wondrously sleek and elegantly proportioned. Trim
muzzle is lifted proudly, smooth lines arching back into a nobly limned brow
in which her eyes rest, glittering jewels of strength and intensity. Sinuous
neck is curved coyly, supple turn to lead into the strong set of her lithe body.
Fore- and hindlimbs are tough, dainty feet tipped with needle-sharp talons that
seem to capture all light within their ebon depths. Diaphanous wings are deceptively
delicate, fragile looking 'spars providing structured frame to almost-transparent
'sails. Her tail lashes out behind, rarely still; calculated sway to tease and
tantalize. In hue she is a uniform burnished amber, unmarred by unnatural shadow
or faded discolouration, from nose-tip to tail-tip. Faint sheen glistens upon
ridges and 'spars, the shadowed gloss of polished chrome providing elegant highlight.

Coming Apart at the Seams Egg continues its shuddering and pounding. Out out out, must get out! Yellow bits begin to flake off, for all the world as if the stuffing is being beaten out of it.
Low-Down Dirty Brown Hatchling stumbles towards Brenton.
Tart and Tawdry Egg snaps as a talon punctures the shell from within. Some confused thrashing ensues, and eventually the hatchling manages to back out of his shell and shake the clinging shards free.
This bronze firelizard looks out of proportion with his width as compared to
his length. His wings extend far out to either side, and his belly is slightly
barrelled, with a deeper beam to his chest. When fully extended, he looks like
he's been gently flattened, spreading out to the sides instead of rounding out.
His neck is very thick, and the metallic color to him seems to form tricolored
curls around the edges of his wings and down about his tail. His underbelly
shows a much darker shade of bronze than his haunches, wings, or his neck, but
the tricolored lapping pattern of curls and waves on the top of his wings glints
between the steely metallic shade to the washed out bronze shade, with the full-bodied
brownish-gold metallic classic bronze coloration pattern. In flight, this firelizard
might have a difficult time learning some maneuvers, simply because a creature
so disproportionately wide, with such an exaggerated wingspan, will have issues
with basic aerodynamics. Long, straight flights might be best.

Cerona giggles and sends over a congratulations to Crysilia, and a grin to Yelena. Though her eyes return to the pot and its contents, scrap sandwich waggling, she calls out, "What've you decided for a name, Ai-" Fine, answer her question before she's asked it. She looks up and smiles, "It's lovely." As the Hiccup green heads toward Rue, she cheers. "Congrats!" and then, "Oooh." as the gold hatches, and another for the bronze.
Swirling Shimmery Bronze Hatchling snorts at his egg shards. Let's see you try that one again! The spitting image of his sire, he demonstrates the same grace for which Hal is known and promptly goes muzzle-first into the sand as he spins around to orient on the food. Limbs, wings and tail go everywhere amidst a surprised bugle!
Katerin gasps as the little gold emerges. "Look! A gold!" She holds her meat scrap out further, trying to coax her over.
Rue's yellow-hazel eyes seem to glitter as the little hiccuping green chooses her! She scoops the little thing up in two cupped hands. "H-hello! Y-you chose...m-me?" she looks extatic and just barely manages to notice Brenton Impress a hatchling too, she beams a smile over at him.
Attitude with Elegance Gold Hatchling uncurls herself and stretches, now free. She takes her time getting herself oriented, blinking coyly up at dam and sire. Hello...
N'sales is wanes his attention from the brown for a moment as the bronze and gold break free of their entrapment. "Wow look at those two" he murmers to know one as he continues to move the meat in an enticing manner.
Brenton nods her head. "That's good to hear. I'm sure she'll do....." Then he stops and turns at the meat is snatched out of his hands. "Oh." He reaches down to scoop up the little brown and then out for more meat. "Yes, yes more food." He says silencing creeling with another piece of wherry.
Baleera gives a sigh and waves the dried fingertail out in the general direction of the gold. "Oh, she's a beaut. And such a little lady. That's it girl, work the crowd." Baleera chuckles.
Delren stands well back from the crowd around the hatchlings, watching with arms crossed and head tipped.
Halcyon gives a fairly credible bugle as the next two eggs hatch. Look what he did!
Star croons, her chest swelling with pride. She gently leans down to nuzzle the little gold, and then the little bronze.
Smoke Black Egg must be caught in a gale force gust--it scuds along the sand, rolling rapidly away from the other eggs.
Drellon breaks up the fight going on all around him, but not before he gets a few nice scratches on his necks. "You're both nasties!" he chides. They don't have time to look reprimanded, however, as Halcyon's bugle brings their attention to the new hatchlings. Both of them look puzzled, as if unsure whether to croon at the opposite sex or squawk at the same.
I'sai whistles softly, as the apprentice impresses, "And there -you- go." He keeps a wary eye on that dirty brown who finds Brees' brother, and a warier look on that egg he'd been watching. "Wasn't blue after all, bother... loud critter, watch those wings," is half under his breath; louder, "I imagine. Had you any luck with the hunting, at least, before -that- happened to you?"
N'sales watches as the brown stumbles towards someone and turns his attention to the other two littles.
Yelena looks up from feeding the Blue Brothers to eye the hatchlings still stumbling around looking for food. She would offer them some, but her hands are completely full. She looks up at Star and says, "Well, done, beauty! Your babies are perfect!" She tries to move a bit of fallen meatroll in their direction, her own boys now beginning to fall asleep against her belly.
Crysilia chuckles softly, continuing to mince up the meat pieces to place before her ravenous blue. "Very nice." She comments on the bronze and the gold.
A small giggle escapes Cerona's throat at the bronze's topple, and a congrats follows toward Brenton. She chuckles at Baleera's words, "Indeed." she agrees, and sits back a bit, raw scraps still stacked in hand, to survey the scene of people, eggs, hatchlings, and clutchparents.
Dendra nearly knocks her tray over a couple of times, and gives up. She puts it down on the floor, and straddles it to offer it a degree of protection. She watches the crowd around the eggs adn hatchlings and jokes, "They look like hungry fish attacking lunch, almost."
Yakut looks down at the carcass. "Well," she says dryly, "I -did-."
Swirling Shimmery Bronze Hatchling finally sorts out limbs from tail from wings, and rises unsteadily. He lurches forward towards the humans, creeling desperately for food. Hey! Hungry firelizard here! Feed me before I hurt myself! His progress is none too steady, and the shards from already hatched eggs seemed bound and determined to trip him up by sliding at inopportune moments.
Rue smiles up at I'sai and continues to feed her new found friend.
"But that was then, and now you're going to have to feed him the whole thing or at least half or at least a bit of the wing, and - Dendra. Dendra, enough with the fish. Please?" I'sai worries, reaching - overreaching - to try and snag a bit of that shell that's cluttering up the hatchling's footing. And not the coy hatchling's, either.
Katerin clicks her tongue gently at the new hatchlings, and waggles her meat scrap. "Come on, babies...come to me...I've got yummies!"
Baleera continues to hold out the fingertail, watching all of the hatchling firelizards. "Such beauties, all of them... though that one looks a bit... smooshed, wouldn't you say?"
Attitude with Elegance Gold Hatchling turns to look at her bronze brother and sniffs, moving more delicately. Doesn't stop her from pitching forward into the sand, though. She rights herself again and heads for the edge of the pot, and the food, pausing a moment to survey her surroundings regally.
Mottled Brown Nubbly Egg shivers in place, making an odd sound not unlike a baby's rattle.
Cerona exhales, "Uh-oh...no...the shells -" she can't watch, and if she weren't so mesmerized, she wouldn't. She clearly winces, helpless, as the bronze progresses, the way one would seeing a dish fall to the floor, or a child scrape his knees. She manages to divert toward the gold and other eggs, and then winces again as the gold pitches forward. Concentrate on the meat, then, and it wiggles some more, scrap sandwich rippling.
Imperfections Abound Egg can't seem to do anything right--it's been still so far, and it's getting a late start, clunking awkwardly back and forth. This could take a while.
Yelena nods toward Katerin, addressing the little unimpressed hatchlings, "Go to her! She's a baker! You'll always have good food!" She grins at her friend, then returns her loving gaze to her little Jake and Elwood, who are now quite asleep. She kisses each little eyeridge softly, then looks about, beaming happily.
Swirling Shimmery Bronze Hatchling draws back abruptly. WOAH! What in the world is that! A hand comes out of the sky and moves a bit of shell out of his way. He overbalances and threatens to topple straight into his gold clutchsibling.
I'sai mutters irrepressibly, "That's right. Smack 'er. Start life off right."
Dendra chuckles and asks, "What's wrong, I'sai? Still sensitive on the fish issue?"
Aisha scoops her now sleeping fire lizard gently into her arms. "Congradulations on all of you who have impressed. And as for those who haven't yet good luck to you all. I'm going to bring Jade somewhere more quiet." Aisha then runs out into the living cavern.
Delren moves forward, smiling a little and watching the hatchlings stumble around, still hovering a bit around the edges of things.
Attitude with Elegance Gold Hatchling chirps in alarm and manages a quick hop out of the way--and out of the egg pot. Little wet wings flailing, she still manages to land on her feet, peering around with red-whirling eyes. Better get moving. Hmm, that's an interesting smell. Different. She moves forward, sniffing.
Drellon reaches up with both hands and taps the snouts of his tempermental pair. "/Home/, both of you!" he commands. It still takes them a few seconds to realize that they're being /ordered/ away, but both prompty disappear once it sinks in. Finally, Drellon can pick up his tossed-down herdbeast and start tempting 'lizards again.
Yakut snickers. "Fish incident?" she asks absently of I'sai.
Smoke Black Egg was rolling along at a good clip. It seems to twist in half suddenly, dumping a little green hatchling flat on her belly at the edge of the pot.
This little lady may be a trifle on the small side for a green, but that is
not the primary reason she stands out in a crowd. Her coloring is a dark rich
cypress, which sweeps evenly from headknobs to tailtip - highlighted here and
there with paler streaks of iridescent pearl. Her wings are dainty for her size
and here is where her coloring takes on a distinctive hue. The wingspars are
flame kissed, the faintest tracings of orange and bright sunlight outlining
them in embers. The blaze peters back into the rich absinthe of her wings, lending
her a saucy air, usually easily seen in the drape of her tail and the set of
her neck. Her tiny head is a perfect wedge, stained as darkly green as the rest
of her hide. In all, this imperious little one is not one to cross.

Aisha ambles out into the Weyr's Living Caverns.
Aisha has left.
Yelena grins over to Aisha, mouthing 'Congratulations' before the other girl leaves.
Katerin beams at Yelena. "That's true! I even fed their mother," she croons, in the direction of the hatchlings.
N'sales grabs a fresh piece of meat still dripping and offers it towards the firelizards, "Here you go. You can have all you want. No need to be shy."
Cypress Pearl Green Hatchling shakes her head, as if trying to clear it, or perhaps in wonder at her near collision with the edge of the pot. Daintily, she climbs to her feet, eyes wheeling with her voracious hunger. Instinct drives her, and she rapidly clamors over the edge of the pot, catching herself before she falls. Keep *her* in, will you - no, I /don't/ think so.
Brenton grins down at the brown in his arms oblivious to everything for the moment except keeping that mouth full so that the little stomach gets full.
Coming Apart at the Seams Egg has taken a terrific pounding and does not so much hatch as disintegrate in shards around the blue hatchling. He creels loudly, a bit frightened, but mostly impatient for FOOD!
This light blue hatchling's hide is a soft powder blue, polished to give it
a hint of shine. Light plays along wingsails, glossy headknobs and neckridges,
turning them a glimmering near-white that shifts as he moves. A darker medium
blue touches his chest and darkens his belly, the insides of his legs, and the
underside of his tail. In general he's good-tempered but vocal, letting everyone
know his mood with whines, croons, squeaks, and various other expressive noises.
Although he's fast enough, he may hesitate in a pinch, just long enough to lose
his chance at that tempting green or meatroll. His left front foot has an odd
habit of coming up lame in different ways, too, all of them ever-so-normal--a
lost talon, a thorn, a sharp edge on that newest shiny thing. All in all, though,
he's usually steady, with a sunny disposition--just keep him fed and he's all
yours!

Sunny Vocal Blue Hatchling arrives in the world with a LOUD creel! No doubt he's here and hungry!
"Just a wee bit - but would you have it any other way?" I'sai teases the baker back, even as he attempts to snag another bit of shell out of the shimmering hatchling's way. "A man's got to have some vulnerabilities. Eccentricities. Something like that." The pearlescent hatchling gets a long look all her own, and the sunny blue, a muttered, "Bad as your brother."
Drellon, already resting on his knees, leans over toward the basket and shoves his handful of meat (again with strips dangling between fingers). "Oh, please, I just want /one/ who'll behave and teach the other two how to be nice!" he mutters to himself.
Baleera decides to get her other hand in play, and picks up some of the meat, offering both fish and wherry for the hatchlings. "Come now, it's a nice and social life with me for any of you. Come taste these delights, pretties, and I'll make sure you never go hungry." Baleera snorts. "Do I look like I'm ill fed myself? C'monnnn, little ones. Over heeeere...."
Delren chuckles at the blue's announcement of his presence. His arms uncross, hands moving to his hips in a more relaxed sort of position.
Attitude with Elegance Gold Hatchling prowls around the edge of the crowd,
still sniffing. Where /is/ that interesting smell coming from? Ah, there! She
steps right up and claims that fish.
Attitude with Elegance Gold Hatchling stumbles towards Baleera.
Swirling Shimmery Bronze Hatchling lurches forward saving himself from the fall, intent on food. See goldie, you didn't have to worry. His eyes are fairly flaring red with hunger. He staggers unsteadily at the edge of the sand, and an eggshell gets caught on one taloned foot. This is a new one to him, and he stops, staring ponderously at it. Finally, carefully, he lifts his foot to start to try to shake it off. This causes wings to unfurl, and the situation to become more precarious by the moment. Then he gives an ungainly hop, crashing forward into a wiggling bit of sandwich.
Crysilia places a few strips of fresh wherry in front of her. With her little blue curled up on her lap, she offers the left-overs of meat in a small pyramid in front of her. Upon seeing the gold rush over to Baleera, she cheers in her direction. "Way to go, ma'am."
Swirling Shimmery Bronze Hatchling stumbles towards Cerona.
Yelena grins at the arrival of the new blue. She whispers to her sleeping insta-fair, "Hey boys! You have another blue brother! And he's a fine looking fellow, he is!" She beams at the little blue, tossing some of the meat she is still holding toward the area where the little lizards are still tottering.
Speckled Burnt Sandstone Egg isn't going to be left behind, either. It quivers, a leisurely shake that slowly intensifies.
N'sales gives a big smile to Baleera as the gold takes her offering. "Congrats Ballera, way to go. The gold." He then watches the bronze impress and smiles.
Katerin sighs as she sees the gold impress, but then turns her attention back the remaining hatchlings. "Come one babies...come eat yummies..." She wiggles her meat scrap again.
Cypress Pearl Green Hatchling reaches out and snatches a bite of herdbeast from a boy wearing the weyr's colors. She backs up to the edge of the pot and eats, watching the humans a trifle warily. Wings fan restlessly, and she tilts her head as if to say, 'Well? Is that *all*?!?'
Baleera blinks and smiles, sniffling slightly as the gold begins to eat out of her hand. "Quick, quick, give me more food to feed her! Oh, she's precious... so elegant, yes, that's the little lady."
Cerona grins. "Hello, there." is directed to all the newly emerged firelizards, and she leans forward again, resting one elbow on her knees before the stacked raw strips are wiggled again. Eyes on the bunch of them, her attention is fully drawn by the bronze stumbling into her sandwich. "Ooh," she breathes, scooping him into her lap, meat going to his maw.
Yelena beams at Baleera. "Well done. And the Starcraft's Duties to the Winecraft...." She grins. "I've heard 'lizards are quite good at determining vintages..."
N'sales turns his attention from the pot, still holding out the meet, it dangling from his hand and the juices running down his forearm. With his other hand he grabs a handfull of meat next to him and gives it to Baleera.
A'dhan waves the meat he's holding, back and forth. His eyes are not on the hatchlings--he's too busy watching everyone else. He nudges Katerin, "Maybe you should lay out a trail from the pot to you, I bet you get one then."
Baleera laughs. "Oh, my. I've got a baby! Well, a proper little lad... ow! And a hungry one. Leave the fingers, that's a girl."
Drellon tries mimicking the movements of others, shaking his hand so that the bits of meat lodged between his fingers start to wiggle and flick juices in all directions. He hits himself in the face with a spatter, and squints as it sits quivering on his cheek. He's not about to move his hand away from offering to the hatchlings, oh no.
I'sai tilts the girl with the two-tone hair a grin, adding, "Don't neaten him up -too- much, hey?" before - at that look of the little hatchling's - reaching across for a bit of... a bit of Yakut's wherry-carcass for her, if the hunter will let him. "Fish incident. Once upon a time, our Holds were having a hard time with their crops, and so we had fish-fish-fish in one ear and out the other. So to speak. It was ever so traumatic."
Crysilia smiles brightly, breaking apart another strip of wherry to a make a 'trail' of small bits of meat leading up to the 'treasure trove' in front of her directly.
Katerin giggles. "That's not a bad idea, really." She starts to make a little trail of leading up to her, as she continues to croon at the hatchlings.
Sunny Vocal Blue Hatchling creels and creels, moving toward the edge of the egg pot. He shakes his left front foot and pauses to investigate--seems he's already hurt it. It doesn't stop him, though, and he follows his sister, looking for food and complaining loudly all the while.
Yelena looks up at I'sai and cackles. "But I'll bet the firelizards of the weyr were ecstatic!" She winks at the bronzerider, eyeing his Telgari knot.
One of the lids on Dendra's tray shifts, releasing delicious-smelling steam. She adds to I'sai's story by saying, "And there was the time a couple of Riders decided to play a little joke on him that involved fish. It spawned several imitations."
Yakut ahhh's. "And you decided to guest at an island?" she chuckles, and nods as he reaches. To think, normally she might have growled at him.
Rue is quietly feeding and petting her new little green, but manages to look at I'sai with a quirked smile.
Cypress Pearl Green Hatchling creels impatiently and then darts forward after a dangling bit of meat. The one with the juices flicking all over. Looks like she'll just have to take matters into her own talons, so to speak. She tugs on it for a long moment, and then looks up to the person that holds it, clamoring demandingly up his leg. Yes. That bit right there is for me, isn't it. Much better. She scarfs down the tidbit and greedily tilts her head for more tribute, ignoring the other lizards around him. She *is* a lady, after all.
Mottled Brown Nubbly Egg is still making that strange rattling noise. Or is it a clicking noise now? It's also shaking and beginning to roll out of the little hollow it's been nestled in.
Cypress Pearl Green Hatchling stumbles towards Drellon.
Delren does a quick bit of foraging, coming back with a few bits of fish. Just a bit shy about horning in, he piles up the morsels of food in a small heap, giving the folks around a quiet smile.
Imperfections Abound Egg shouldn't be forgotten--its motions have become more enthusiastic, if no less clumsy. I think I can, I think I can...
Mottled Brown Nubbly Egg scoots unsteadily out of its hollow and rolls downhill
to crash against the Imperfections Abound egg. The collision cracks the tough
shell, and a large green hatchling staggers out.
Though she's just climbed out of her egg, this hatchling is rather large, especially
for a green, and her hide doesn't gleam as much as many of her clutchmates'.
It gives her general, soft glow that's easily overlooked. The plain grassy green
covers most of her back and sails, and the underside of the 'lizard is a slightly
darker mossy shade. There are a few spots of a more muddy green on her belly,
which stand out sharply against the smoothness of her hide. She moves rapidly,
half crawling, half hopping, and obviously forgetting to use her left hindleg
most of the time. Her creeling is not really charming, but she's got beautifully
shaped eyes, gleaming and alert -- and red with hunger. Now and then, she'll
stop for no apparent reason, look around and widely -- and loudly -- yawn. Then
she'll move again, slowly. And when she's fed, she's either asleep or overly
boisterous, depending on what you give her to eat, so be careful. The rest of
the time, she's moving her heavy shape around, and she's sweet as a piece of
cake.

Katerin laughs. "Good job, Drell...but I thought you weren't interested..." she winks at her cousin.
And just like that, Drellon finds himself the proud feeder of another lazy and seemingly useless creature. "Well, not in the /mean/ ones!" he protests to Katerin. Feed, feed, feed he goes, looking relieved.
Yelena winks at Drellan in congratulation, then renews her oohing and ahhing as she spies the new green. "My, my! A BIG girl you are! You give your gold sister a run for her marks, you do!"
N'sales smiles at the newly arrived green as he is taken in by her eyes....
Bulky Matte Green Hatchling gives a grating creel of confusion. What happened to that nice, safe little egg she was in! Her left hind leg is curled close to her body, almost as though it were left behind in the shell. She tilts her head, those gorgeous eyes bright ruby with hunger, and gives an awkward hop towards the big human things. Perhaps they can make sense out of all this.
Delren chuckles quietly at the yawning of the green, nudging a couple of fish morsels toward her.
I'sai murmurs quick appreciation, and a wry, "Just as well," after the cypress hatchling. "More or less," he agrees with Yakut for both, making a show of ignoring that baker over there. Didn't hear a thing. Oh no. Not one. "...Is that one flopping funny, even for a hatchlings, or is it just me?"
Cerona has her shimmery bronze in her lap, and is doing her best to scoot towards the nearby wall, out of the way - plenty of meat in hand, of course. Her process is slow, however, as the hatchling demands food, and there's a certain level of difficulty to feeding and moving and carrying all at the same time.
Delren shakes his head, "No, she looks like she's a little lame." His voice is quiet, eyes slightly narrowed as he studies the chubby little green.
Drellon absorbs himself in feeding his new little lady.
Brenton nods his head looking up and over from the brown. "She does. That leg looks a little off." He smiles down at the brown who curls in the curve of his arm to fall asleep.
Sunny Vocal Blue Hatchling creels and limps, creels and limps. He looks around and heads purposefully toward some dangling meat.
Imperfections Abound Egg suffers a collision--the help it needed, apparently.
With a frustrated creel, the brown hatchling within takes advantage of the hole
in the shell, widening it enough to exit. He takes an unsteady step and promptly
collapses on his snout.
He's small for a brown--more the size of a blue--and not very well-formed, either.
His wings and limbs are short and stubby, his body, rather blocky. His hide
is a rich, gleaming toffee brown--except where it's dull and patchy across his
neckridges and back. A stain of rusty orange-brown and a few darker red-brown
circles and tracings dot his chest and wings, too. Still, there's something
engaging about him--he's almost so ugly he's cute. What he lacks in speed he
makes up in energy, and there's a cunning glint in his red-whirling eyes. This
poor little guy always has some minor ailment afflicting him, whether it's patchy
hide on his flank, a lost talon making him lame, a gurgling belly, or a strain
in his wings. And oddly enough, these new problems always seem to crop up when
he has an audience other than just his pet. But no matter what the problem may
be, he perseveres--not very fast, but he'll get where he needs to go eventually.
(Credit: Terrilia Inspiration: 1978 AMC Concord)
Rue misunderstands Delren calling the little pudge green 'lame' and says, "Y-you shouldn't t-tease people.. or f-firelizards with afflictions."
Speckled Burnt Sandstone Egg is...last? How can that be? Wait a minute--we
can fix that! Not to be outdone, the egg begins to vibrate violently, almost
as if it were about to take off rather than hatch. Hatch it does, disintegrating
in shards around the regal little bronze.
His hide is light, a sophisticated cashmere beige that still gleams in unmistakably
metallic tones. In the hollows and shadows of his long, well-proportioned body,
the tone fades gradually to a true bronze. His wings, fanned open in a stretch,
shine with light, the leading edge etched in darker bronze, lighter beige sails
contrasting. Eyes red with hatchling hunger nevertheless reveal a calm, collected
intelligence, measured and sure. His movements are smooth and certain, and the
longer he flies, the more he settles into his pace and gait. With good looks,
speed to spare, and exceptional grace, he's sure to be popular with golds and
greens alike. The tilt of his head as he considers and a touch of smugness in
his attitude suggests he understands this, and for all that he's charming, that
one small knowing flaw might be a bit off-putting.

Baleera has her little gold in the crook of her arm, a steady supply of food being offered up to her, including a handful of dried fingertails that she snagged from Jenna's stash. "There now, what will I call you? Except hungry, that is."
Yakut peers. "Does kind of look floppy." she grunts.
Katerin adds more pieces to her trail 'o meat, and waggles the largest bit in her hand. "Come on babies...come to Katerin..."
Delren glances over at Rue, blinking for a moment, confused. His gaze clears as it clicks what Rue means, "I mean she looks like her leg is hurt. Lame as in... you know. Lame." He picks up a piece of fish, wriggling it a little at the hopping green.
"Question is, whether she'll grow out of it," I'sai says quietly back to Delren, to Yakut. "Same thing with the little blue... Not that it'll matter much, since they fly and all, y'know?" - "Why not?" This to Rue. "At least, if you do it in a nice-enough tone of voice... Do you think they notice?" He idly dangles that wherry-scrap before that collected-looking hatchling, the better to see whether he'll lose his composure for -food-.
Smooth Cashmere Bronze Hatchling shakes himself off and looks around, chin held high. Who will be his? Who has food? He starts off at a dignified pace, heading toward the edge of the pot...a large piece of eggshell stuck to his flank.
N'saless eyes are torn from the greens as an egg shatters and a small bronze emerges. "Nothing like making an appearence I always say." he holds the meat out the juices having run down his arm. "Here feed all you want."
Crysilia uses her index and middle finger on the ground, 'walking' her fingers along the path of juicy meat chunks to arrive at the delicious meat pyramid - hoping to catch the attention of any firelizard that passes her way again.
Yelena aaaahs at the bronze and brown currently tottering. She picks up a meatroll that is lying by her hip and rolls it toward the little ones still out there. "Oh, you are both fine specimens!" she grins, stroking her own little blues again.
A'dhan reaches over and dangles his piece in front of Katerin too, trying to get the hatchlings to head that way.
Blocky Hypochondriac Brown Hatchling tries to make it to his limbs, wings flailing rather pitifully. He cranes his neck upwards and peers at the humans about, giving a woeful creel.
Yakut remarks absently, "I doubt fire lizards care one way or the other as long as the tone is right."
Bulky Matte Green Hatchling makes an awkward hopping and skipping movement, looking rather like a sailor home on shore leave, or someone who's spent just a wee bit too much time at the lava lounge. Her tail acts as a cantilever, helping to balance her and keeping her from toppling over, unlike some of her less graceful clutchsiblings. She reaches out a taloned forepaw grasping at some of the nice, bloody dangly bits the humans are holding out, but is just a wee bit too far away.
Rue flushes and looks suddenly embarased at Delren. "Oh..." she cradles her green in one hand and notices the Bronze which seems to look much like one of her favorite fabrics! "Oh what a handsome f-fellow!" she holds out her free hand to wriggle some more meat.
Sunny Vocal Blue Hatchling spies a wriggling piece, not meant for him, but it looks good anyway. He chirrups hopefully as he makes his way toward it.
Delren picks up a couple more pieces of fish, holding them out on his palm, shaking his hand to move them about a bit.
Smooth Cashmere Bronze Hatchling looks around slowly, though his eyes are wheeling red. Only when he turns his head far enough does he see the shell sticking to him. He shakes it off with a hiss of displeasure and clambers down to the ground. Food!
Sunny Vocal Blue Hatchling follows a hand moving back and forth, still creeling
plaintively and limping a bit. Noisy little thing.
Sunny Vocal Blue Hatchling stumbles towards Delren.
Blocky Hypochondriac Brown Hatchling finally makes it to his feet, giving a rather melodramatic creel. He's /*starving*/, simply *starving*! He tries to weave his way through the egg shards, though they are posing quite the threat to navigation.
Baleera looks down as the gold warbles sleepily, her stomach bulging and her eyes whirling in pleasure. "Like my own little bit of golden song. I think I'll name you Aria."
Rue wraggles the meat in her free hand, outstretched to the little cashmere bronze. Not a single spatter hitting her clothes this time! "H-hey boy. W-want some of this?"
Delren glances over at Rue with a smile, starting to say something when the plaintive little creel gets his attention. He blinks in surprise, stopping the shaking of his hand to give the little blue the bits of fish.
Terrilia shakes her head and smiles wearily as she watches. "Faranth, there's a lot of them," she mutters. She draws back slightly, smiling.
N'sales flicks the pieces of meat he is holding out towards the bronze. "Come here little one. Plenty more where this came from." He watches as he dislodges the shard of shell and smiles encouragling at him
Crysilia grins broadly, adding a few more meat chunks to the less-than-straight path leading to the lopsided pyramid of wherry slices in front of her.
Smooth Cashmere Bronze Hatchling takes his time, peering around and even preening a bit. Oh yes, he's a pretty boy, admire him...what's this? A trail? He is a hatchling after all, and hungry. Greedily he lowers his maw and snatches up the first piece.
Yelena grins at Delren. "Congratulations!" she smiles as she continues to stroke her twin blues. "A lot of lovely blues in this clutch, eh?" She eyes the unimpressed hatchlings and pushes the little bit of meatroll by her foot to one side and to the other. "There's plenty left, dears. Look at all these people who want to feed you!"
Bulky Matte Green Hatchling shifts forward again, for some reason refusing
to put down that left rear limb. It really is rather comical when you look at
it. Nothing seems wrong with it on the surface - perhaps she's just that dim
of a glow. She overbalances, reaching for a tidbit of raw, red meat held by
N'sales, and ends up in a heap. That likely wasn't the little one he was referring
to, but she does fit that description, kinda.
Bulky Matte Green Hatchling stumbles towards N'sales.
Katerin jumps a little in her spot. "Yes!! That's a good boy! Come on here...I've got more..."
I'sai's own tone's spoiled by a smothered laugh at the green's antics; still, he manages to get in a nod back to the hunter, and then a quiet, "I wonder if he'd notice if you stick the bit of shell back on." Why not? He twitches his bit of wherry towards the cashmere again, then takes aim with one of the shards he'd collected earlier.
Brenton looks over at I'sai and laughs. "I'm sure he would. He seems quite conscious of himself."
Smooth Cashmere Bronze Hatchling snatches bite after bite, following the trail
that's been laid down. Reaching the end, he lifts his head and gives an imperious
creel to the baker apprentice he finds there. Feed me!
Smooth Cashmere Bronze Hatchling stumbles towards Katerin.
Delren scoops the little blue up gently, careful the leg he seems to be favoring, piles of fishbits in his free hand to give the hungry hatchling.
N'sales grins broadly as the little grin takes his meat, "Oh yes, here, help yourself." He lists the green up in the cradle of his hand pulling her away to safety where he offers her more before backing away to let others in.
"At least it's a baker who'll be seeing to him," I'sai returns amiably.
Ripple gives a chirrup as the last of the eggs hatch and makes a dive down to the edge of the meat bowl, grabbing a talonful of meat for himself before winging off.
Blocky Hypochondriac Brown Hatchling peers around at the faces. The melodramatic act isn't going over so well. Hm. He gives a rather demanding creel and charges in an odd stutter step in the direction his clutchmate went. Hey! /Starving/ lizard here!
Katerin beams up at everyone. "Oh! Isn't he handsome?" She offers more pieces of meat as he crawls into her lap.
Rue offers congrats to Katerin.
Dendra applauds and says, "Congratulations, Katerin!"
Yakut looks about. "I'sai?" she inquires. "I hate to be a pain, but I've got to get some game in...if you're still around when I'm done, would you mind letting me have a ride back to Ista?" she's oddly restrained and polite about it, as if she's been trained previously never to ask such a question.
Cerona chuckles at the diving 'lizard, but even this much of a distraction is too much for her own hungry one. "Aria's pretty," she calls to Baleera, jumping right in. She gives a cheer for the newly Impressed and looks down at her bronze, murmurring, "Don't know what to call you yet..."
Delren grins back at Yelena, surprised enough by the turn of events that he's even less vocal than usual. The little blue seems to be swallowing the morsels of fish without even biting, making the young man laugh.
Terrilia sighs with relief as the last one...oh wait, too soon. She eyes that little brown, keeping well away and trying not to draw attention to herself. All of the little /impressed/ hatchlings get a warm smile.
N'sales holds the little green carefully. He will have to look into the leg of hers as soon as she has had her fill. He smiles to Jenna and Terrilia, before quietly saying something to Jenna. "Your bronze did well."
A'dhan smiles at Katerin. "There you go, congratulations." He swings the bit of meat he's been holding the whole time. "I guess I won't need this anymore."
Yelena beams at Katerin. "Congratulations to both of you! Lad..." she addresses the little bronze. "/Good choice/. I wish I ate as well as you will...." She grins and winks at the baker.
Jenna is beaming from ear to ear at N'sales and Baleera. "Aria definately fits. How about you, Norse? What're you going to call her?" She brightens even futher at the bronzers words and says, "He did, didn't he."
I'sai hesitates; then shrugs one-shouldered, "Wouldn't mind, no. But - " he nods toward the carcass she still has, "Just gotta secure your creatures so they don't bleed all over Taralyth. Think you can manage?" He eyes the oncoming hatchling, then, muttering something about lame like the rest.
Baleera smiles and nuzzles the little queen's headknobs affectionately. "Yes, Aria. You can nuzzle right there and sleep well. I'll care for you this night. Tomorrow we'll see about oiling your hide and feeding you some more."
Crysilia strokes the sleeping blue on her lap affectionately. Noticing the frantic, hungry brown, she moves the meat pyramid away from her a bit - closer to the brown looking for a good meal.
Baleera says "Which did you get, m'dear?" She looks to Cerona. "I'm sorry, but I don't know many names here. I just stopped to drop off the kegs for L'son."
N'sales grins at Jenna as he shakes his head, "Not sure yet but I am sure it will befit only her." He continues to feed her all she wants as he nuzzles into the crook of his arm. He smiles at Baleera, "Never expected to impress a gold huh?"
Brenton looks down at the last brown and chuckles as he watches leans back in his seat careful not to wake the brown nestled in the crook of his arm.
N'sales moves back towards the pot to get a few more pieces of meat from the bowl sitting there.
Yelena eyes the pretty little brown and croons quietly. "Oh, poor little fellow! There are still folks wanting to feed you here! And I will feed you if they won't! Won't you have something to eat??"
Blocky Hypochondriac Brown Hatchling is most certainly /not/ lame. He can walk
just fine. Right now, at least. Since the melodramatic act didn't earn him anything.
And he proves it, pouncing for the shard in I'sai's fist. Oh, wait, that's not
food. Well, where is it! Come on, cough up!
Blocky Hypochondriac Brown Hatchling stumbles towards I'sai.
Yakut nods. "Not a problem." Yakut assures, and then, "Oh, I'sai!"
Baleera snorts. "Never expected to Impress anything, actually. Oh, sure, I had dreams of being a dragonrider. Can't grow up in the shadow of Benden without that thought crossing your mind. But Searchriders came and went, and I was too busy, or just not right. Aria will make a fine companion, though. I do hope she likes being showcased. I can't imagine being such a beautiful creature without wishing to be displayed at all the parties."
Rue just smiles at I'sai and stiefles a giggle.
Star croons happily, her humming finally subsiding. She leans over to nuzzle Halcyon gently.
N'sales grins as the little bown jumps at I'sai, feeding the last of the meat he grabbed to the little green who creels no more.
Brenton follows the brown with his gaze and laughs picking up the bowl of meat near him and offering it out towards I'sai. "You might want this."
Yelena grins at I'sai, "What a fine fellow! Congratulations!"
Halcyon twines tails with Star, though he has absolutely no voice left. Thankfully, for those listening, at least.
Cerona supplies easily, "Cerona, ma'am," and holds up her drowsing, Swirling Shimmery bronze for Baleera's view. "He's kinda /flat/, isn't he?" she asks no one in particular, then offers her own congratulations to the rider.
Yelena also looks up at Star and Halcyon with a little respectful nod. "Your hatchlings were all very fine, you two! You did marvelously well! Thank you so much!"
Delren strokes his little blue's headknobs, still feeding bits of food, though he has to hop up on another little foraging expedition to do it. The little lizard seems to be slowing down in his feeding, no longer gulping the pieces down completely whole.
Terrilia whews, seeing the last one finally impressed, and sits up straighter. "There we go. Wonderful! Congratulations!" She beams generally at everyone.
I'sai yelps, "He attacked me!" but he's quick to grab at Brenton's offering, too, and bribe the little brown. "Thanks. Shards. Oh, shards. ...Don't laugh, what's-your-name, I heard that."
Yelena reaches up to grasp Terrilia's hand, shaking it gently. "Thank you for allowing us to attend the blessed event, Terri! What a wonderful bunch of hatchlings!"
Crysilia smiles brightly, gathering the leftover meat into a small pouch to save for later. "Thank you a lot, ma'am." She says to Terrilia, scooping the blue into her arms off her lap.
Jenna is grinning from ear to ear, clearly as proud as her bronze is. "Yes, congratulations, everyone."
Rue's little hiccuping green bounces her way clumsily up to the girl's shoulder and nearly falls off the other side, if not for the protective hand of Rue. This time she does giggle at I'sai and whispers something to her new little green about "irony".
Brenton doesn't even attempt to look innocent just laughs harder as the bowl is taken.
Baleera chuckles. "Well, Cerona, I'm Baleera. And I think yours looks just fine. A little extra width never hurt anyone."
Terrilia smiles warmly at Yelena and squeezes her hand. "Oh, you're welcome! Thank you for coming! Looks like you've got your hands full." She smirks at I'sai and beams at Jenna.
Delren grins over at Terrilia as the 'lizard he's cradling finally decides that he's had enough... for now at least... and gives a wide, squeaky yawn.
Kerythan steps in from the Resident's Hallway.
Kerythan has arrived.
Yelena says "You just missed it, Kerythan!"
Katerin beams up at Star as she stuffs the little bronze hatchling. "Isn't he gorgeous?" The bronze ruffles his wings while he gulps down scraps, as if to say, of course!
N'sales moves back and sits at a table, carefull not to disturb the now sleeping green. He nods to Jenna, "You going to need a ride back to Fort?" he also nods to Baleera. "I can offer you a lift too if need be."
I'sai mutters to them both, not quite a whine, "I heard that. Funny. Really funny. You explain another mouth to my weyrmate. He'll probably start yowling for breakfast in the middle of the night, too," but he's gentle in stroking one callused hand down the lunchbox-hatchling's back.
Terrilia grins at Delren and Crysilia, too. "You're welcome," she says generally, smiling. She chuckles at I'sai and peeks over at the little brown. "He's...kinda cute?"
Cerona laughs softly, patting her now slumbering bronze. "Still don't know what to call 'im." she remarks, and looks toward Terrilia. "Lovely clutch," she says, adding her own thanks to Jenna as well, then gazing down at her bronze again.
Kerythan blinks mildly at the crowd in the inner caverns, and waves vaguely in Yelena's direction. "Missed wh... oh." He doesn't look remotely disappointed, really.
Jenna nods to N'sales. "Yeah. And I finally get my partner back." She grins at Terrilia, "Not that I minded him being gone, really, but I'll be glad to have him home finally, if he'll leave Star's side." Her tone is amused.
Brenton laughs over at I'sai a bit more. "I imagine he will for a few days at least. He is a baby, afterall."
N'sales chuckles at Jenna as he looks over at Terrilia then the 'couple'. "From the looks of the two that may be awhile."
Terrilia smiles warmly at Cerona, then nods to Jenna. "Oh, probably. Eventually. Now that there aren't eggs to guard, Star'll probably go back to her usual aloof self." She reaches down to give the little gold an affectionate scritch.
Rue smiles at I'sai and the little brown and says casually, "I think he suits you." she glances happily at Brenton.
Katerin has forgotten everyone else in the room. She is busy stuffing her little bronze. Smooth Cashmere Bronze Hatchling accepts the food with an attitude which says, Of /course/ you are feeding me. Who wouldn't want to feed me? Kat giggles. "You're quite the little fellow, aren't you? And don't you know it, too..."
I'sai just gives Terrilia one of those darkling 'it's all your fault' looks, and goes about picking off any more bits of shard before taking up his (his!) little hatchling. "Yes, yes, Brenton. Anything else you want sent to your sister? If you keep that up, I'll tell her you've caught the plague," with a glint of a grin just there. As for the giggling weaver, "Do you now." Considering pause. "What's your name, by the by? Are you posted here?"
Delren makes a little sound of surprise as the blue makes a pre-emptive hop, trying to get up onto his shoulder. To assist, he lifts the hatchling up to shoulder-level, letting him clamber over to perch.
Terrilia chuckles at I'sai's look and grins, amused. She stands up and stretches with a groan, then begins tidying up, moving rather slowly.
Brenton grins at Rue then over at I'sai. "You'd be the one who'd have to deal with an upset weyrling which would probably upset her green if you told her that."
Baleera smiles. "Yes, thank you so much for this wonderful clutch, Star and Halcyon, is it? Excellent. Now, Jenna, I'll be picking your brains about how to handle this new joy of mine."
Cerona scoops up the sleeping bronze in her arms, gathering up half her skirt in the process, then beating it back down as she shuffles over to Katerin. "Looks like we both have males on our hands now," she says softly, not wanting to disturb the delicate feeding routine.
N'sales smiles down as at the green taking a closer look now that she is asleep in his arms at her leg to make sure there is nothing wrong. Just at that moment his eyes go distant and he nods with a good humored chuckle. He looks at Jenna, "Seems someone else has named her for me. Orenth says we call her Aine."
Rue shakes her head. "N-no, not posted here. I c-came up with a Journeywoman and a F-fortian rider. T-they said it'd be g-good for me to g-get out of the Hall for the d-day. Stress makes me studder. My name is Ruenastrella, or j-just Rue."
Yelena grins around the room. "Well, all, I should go change - I'm a mess! Thanks again, Terrilia and Jenna, for sharing your wonderful friends with us. Good eve!"
Terrilia smiles around as she picks up a few scattered pieces of meat. Hearing Baleera, she glances her way. "Oh, Igen's Duties. I really didn't get to greet you properly before." Her smile softens as she looks at the little gold. "I think she's rather like her mother, from what I saw. Good luck." She waves after Yelena, too. "I'm Terrilia, blue Cyameth's rider. Weyrsecond here."
I'sai's eyes narrow into silver - point! - but then he just laughs, "Nah. I'll just tell her you're dying slowly enough that she'll get to visit, you know, before." To the weaver, gravely, "I can see why you go by Rue, and - " he breaks off to cast a wave to the Igen-garbed girl. "Evening!"
Baleera nods and smiles. "Yes, I think it's time to find some spare quarters somewhere. I don't imagine this little one will like being jounced *between* just yet."
Jenna laughs, nodding to Terrilia and then to Baleera and N'sales. "Well, the one thing no one told me and I had to find out on my own was that oiling is *very* important. Particularly as she's growing. And expect to be awakened in the middle of the night tonight to feed 'em." She beams at N'sales. "Aine's a lovely name." She gives a wave towards Yelena, the other runner girl.
Katerin gathers her bronze up in her arms, and stands up, looking for more meat. She beams at A'dhan, then heads over to Terrilia and Dendra. "Look! Isn't he just perfect?" Her face is practicaly glowing as she reaches for a forgotten bowl of scraps in the corner.
Brenton laughs over at I'sai. "Yes, I'm sure your brother is dying slowly would be so much better recieved than just your brother is dying." He smiles over at Rue and nods his head. "I'm Brent. It's nice to meet you. Have you thought of a name yet?"
Yelena waves again before departing.
Terrilia points toward the Residents' Hall as she continues her cleaning. "There are some spare beds through there..." Her eyes fall on Baleera's knot, and she continues smoothly, "and a guest room, if you'd like. Please, make yourself at home for the night." She grins at Katerin and nods. "Lovely! I'm so glad you got one!"
N'sales gets up and moves over to Terrilia. "Congratulations on such a fine cluth. You and Star can be very proud. Thanks again." He motions to Jenna, "You going to come back to Fort with me?"
Dendra chuckles and takes advantage of the shrinking crowd to get her food off the floor in into a chair. "Yes, Katerin, he's adorable. I'm glad you got one!"
Katerin grins, breathing a sigh of relief. "I thought I wasn't going to! He was almost the last one!"
Jenna murmurs to N'sales, "I think I need a bit of fresh air, yeah. Meet you in the bowl? No rush, really."
A'dhan eyes Star wearily and decides to make his exit. He nods to Terrilia and Katerin, then slips out.
Rue smiles at Brenton, "Well met B-Brent. No, I've n-not thought of a name yet." She looks regretful and rises to her feet, holding on to her little firelizard. "I'm afraid I'm l-late to meet up w-with the Journeywoman, I have to go. I h-hope we'll meet again."
A'dhan walks down a long, winding corridor to the bowl.
A'dhan has left.
Terrilia gives up on the cleaning and straightens up for the moment, nodding and smiling to N'sales. "Thank you--Clear skies." She waves to A'dhan and Rue, too.
Yelena smiles warmly as she enters, still cuddling her Blue Brothers, Jake and Elwood. She grins to the assembled, "Evening. Got any more meatrolls? When these fellows wake, they'll be hungry again for sure..."
N'sales nods to Jenna as he turns, "Fort duties to Igen and her Queens again." He carefully pulls his ridijng jacket over his arms keeping the green nestled in and making sure she will be safe for the ride home.
Delren settles into a seat after scooping up some more scraps of fish. Some he pops into his own mouth, some he offers up the hatchling on his shoulder. Half the time the blue takes them, half he seems about to doze off.
Jenna murmurs a quiet goodbye to Terrilia, and slips on out, leaving Hal to make his own goodbyes.
Yelena waves to the departing riders, calling, "The Starcraft's duties to all!"
Kerythan finally works his way through the thinning crowd, making it as far as the exit out to the living cavern. With another glance around, he departs through it.
N'sales ambles out into the Weyr's Living Caverns.
N'sales has left.
Kerythan ambles out into the Weyr's Living Caverns.
Kerythan has left.
Star chirrups and nuzzles Halcyon once more, satisfied.
